  1. The Solid State Series were titles released by United Artists in the late 60's-1970.
  2. No, it isn't. The OP used this phrase in the title of a Lou Reed obit thread he started here five years ago. Frankly, I think it comes off as rather flippant, although I doubt that was his intention. Anyway, Ken Nordine's Word Jazz was a favorite among my friends and I at Berklee in the late 70's, especially after a bowl or two.
  3. Some titles in this series are available to stream on Spotify. The Kenny Wheeler/Alan Skidmore issue is particularly good.
  4. Much more common at Amazon. It is a deal breaker for me when someone else offers more for the same price. Spotify has 47.7 million users per month versus 12.7 million for Amazon.
  5. Perhaps Amazon's pay-for-streaming service has changed, but when I used it earlier last year, I found that some tracks on some albums were "greyed out", i.e., unavailable for streaming. Unlimited indeed! Consequently, I chose Spotify instead.
  6. But Rudy said "the truth isn't the truth".
  7. You didn't click on the "features" tab which provides this info: Includes eight 180-gram LPs - remastered from the original analog tapes by Paul Blakemore (all of which were recorded by renowned engineer Rudy Van Gelder) - Cut by Clint Holley from 24-bit/192kHz transfers.
  8. No longer "cancelled", but still a little sketchy. Received an email from amazon today saying that it's available - from one marketplace seller in the U.K. ?! Luckily, it's listed in the SteepleChase catalog and now available for streaming from Spotify (I don't buy CDs anymore).
  9. I forgot about Thurman-Lopez! I'll definitely tune in for that one. Glad to see Pacquiao got the unanimous decision. Fun to watch the unapologetic Broner later claim that he won the fight.
  10. Agreed, although I do enjoy rooting against Broner. Another fight worth looking forward to is Mikey Garcia vs. Errol Spence, Jr. in March. Both are terrific boxers and they display the kind of respect and humility I look for in a title holder.
  11. I really enjoyed reading this. Thanks for sharing. Now what about Broner vs Pacquiao?
  12. Bop City, NYC, 1953 by Herman Leonard Entertainer Milton Berle (CR) during opening ceremonial of Bop City NYC 1949 Artie Shaw’s 40 piece symphony orchestra playing during Bop City opening NYC 1949
  13. No, I think you're right. Regular price is $99.99.
  14. Since you have a few Macs, try the free X Lossless Decoder (XLD). I've used it for years without any problems. If your cd-r is defective, XLD will tell you where the problem is.
  15. What software are you using to copy the cd-r to your hard drive?
  16. I have no doubt that you enjoy Grant Green as much if not more than Wes or Burrell. However, to assert that his technical or improvisational skills were equal to that of the other two is a mistake.
  17. Gotta be scat. Just gotta be.
  18. I'd pay any price just to get you I'd work all my life and I will To win you I'd stand naked, stoned and stabbed I'd call that a bargain The best I ever had The best I ever had It's all relative, I guess.
  19. Isn't the listing at Amazon Marketplace a used copy?
  20. And all five LPs are available to stream from Spotify © 2018 Universal Music.
