Hmmm ... wanted to see if this is available from the label, but couldn't get the catalog page to load: Del-Fi - try yourself. I ordered two other CDs from them years ago. Billy Wiggins? Billy Higgins? Gerry Wiggins? Heheee ..... Since Billy Higgins belonged to that circle in those years, I'd say it's him. That rhythm trio played on Paul Horn's HIFIJazz LP.

I can't see why they do not use helmets during lessons - in this case it would have saved her life. A senseless death. R.I.P.

Copies of this pop up on ebay every once in a while, in case someone here is still looking for it.

There is a handful of tracks on any label form the 1950's that were issued on 45s but never included on an LP or CD reissue. I once got me a Don Patterson Prestige 45 for that reason. "People" was faded out however, suggesting there was a longer version performed ... There were two Cal Tjader tracks only on Fantasy 45's - so far I have hunted down one of them, a studio version of Afro Blue that never was reissued so far! The other one, a ballad with Chombo Silva, seems to be mega-rare!

Send an e-mail to Mosaic offering to lend your 45 - since the Impulse CD is OOP, they may reissue this as a Mosaic Single.

One more difference is that Coleman never went as far out as Shorter - that considered, Shorter was the better match for that rhythm team. It is telling that these four players did a lot of recording together in various combinations, while Coleman was not called again, IIRC. I also see similarities between Coleman and Cannonball, as far as fluency and perfection are concerned. Cannonball also was the least adventurous guy in that band, in a way. Perfect hardbop vs. free form leanings, that was the question ... Miles tried quite a number of players between these two approches in those years.

I do!!! BTW, the box I received was one of the first pressing with the metal bracket, not a long box. I guess the lowered price refers to the long box (didn't know this was already available in that format). JPC in Germany sold the Silent Way and Bitches Brew long boxes that cheap last year - and they are still available, though not at such a low price.

Sound quality is okay, much better than most live recordings from that era I have, but not top notch.

This time I got though the whole procedure much faster - after using the promotional code I paid $ 11.74 incl. shipping to Germany!
