Album Covers Showing Men with Big Hats

What?!! No Pres!!!!??? -
The Turkish were spirited and firey, but a little too inconsistent. If the Germans had played at the top of their game it would have been harder for them. Their goals were part good luck, and being at the right place, but technically not very impressive. The German goals were perfectly played. They had serious trouble getting through the middle field which the Turks blocked very efficiently, and avoided confrontations - which I understand, as the Turkish team has the worst foul statistsic of the whole contest. They held back this time. The end result is fair, as there was a penalty not given when Lahm was fouled before the Turkish goal. Now we have all the Turkish people living in Germany on our side as well, as many Turkish fans said : Spain beware, or Russia?

Shocking ..... I thought he was pretty good when I heard him on Andy Summers' Monk CD. R.I.P.

I never had any problems with Caiman when ordering through amazon.de - two or three times it took them up to six weeks to deliver, in case of rare items. But otherwise the discs were here within 5 to 15 days. I noticed they sometimes use a new category, something like sellout - the same discs at half the price at which they listed them before. But so far I always got my stuff. Agree about the lousy packing - I advise Bill to hang a large padded bag below the slot ...

The Complete Blue Note Ronnie Foster Sessions -
Thom Keith offered to step up - if nobody in an earlier spot objects, it's his turn next, I'd say.

First to enter my mind is the one on "Remember" on Soul Station - I can sing along with that one.

wordsandsounds was last seen on the board on June 22 - I sent him another e-mail. But I wouldn't see a problem in your stepping up. I haven't seen Eloe Omoe for a while either and suppose he's too busy, and know that Mr. Bassman will only be ready by October. Don't know about fent 99. Yes your previous position would be eliminated, but you always can sign up for another one.

Up - same problem again. wordsand sounds, who signed for # 59, didn't answer my PM ...

The Boland twofer is highly recommended. Boland's charts are - as we know from the ones he wrote for the CBBB - always a great joy to listen to: inventive and swinging, he is creating different moods and tone colors with the inclusion of flutes, clarinets and french horns in a very effective way. Besides that, the roster of soloists guarantees top notch playing in the solo department: Benny Bailey, Kenny Wheeler, Frank Rosolino, Bobby Burgess, Tony Coe, Ronnie Scott, Sal Nistico, Sahib Shihab. Last but not least you cannot go wrong with the European rhythm team of Jean Warland and Kenny Clare. This is a must for fans of modern big bands. I second that - Boland without Klook is the second best thing to Boland with Klook!!! Only thing that bugs me is the sound - although recorded by the legendary Wolfgang Hirschmann it does not sound as great as his CBBB recordings - could it be the different studio they used?

15 - as subjective a list as can be .....

Bill, yours is # 70, June next year, but probably earlier as I suspect that some in between will have dropped out.

You simply have to adjust your options at the bottom of the page accordingly, or you can always look at the Blindfold Test Masters List.

You may be right - I'm too lazy to read through the booklet ....

I always found the Nonet albums were among the nicest things Konitz ever did and surely deserve a place in the wake of the legendary Miles Davis Capitol band of which Konitz was a part. I think there were four LPs: The Lee Konitz Nonet - Roulette (1976) The Lee Konitz Nonet - Chiaroscuro (1977) Live At Laren - Soul Note (1979) Yes, Yes Nonet - SteepleChase (1979) Just found out the Laren recording is missing in my collection! The first two are pretty are, aren't they? To my knowledge only the SteepleChase was ever issued on CD. They would make a nice Mosaic Select ...

Will the manual be a printout or on USB stick? Plenty of option for missing parts ..... -
Should have been the Candid session: Very good date with Martial Solal, Peter Trunk, and Kenny Clarke. They included a speech recorded by Lucky for a British jazz festival he couldn't attend.

Yes it's the Frankly Jazz performance I have - a European VHS from the series Kay Productions Presents Video Jazz numbered 038 KJ - it says "by arrangement with TCB catalogue" (whatever that means). Sound is okay. Having Ray Crawford in the band is an added treat.
-
I have a VHS cassette somewhere with that (or a different?) TV performance - it's good!
-
Ah - I faintly remember that one. Thanks!

In minute 67: Germany - Austria 1 : 0 Croatia - Poland 1 : 0 I think the Germans played a little better so far, had more chances, making me think it was just a matter of time before they got one in. Too many unnecessary fouls by Austrian players.
