  6. is this on Bandcamp? I can't seem to find a download link anywhere - but that's probably me being a bit dim
  7. Really enjoying this one. Some very fine clarinet on some of the tracks
  8. I was bemoaning this only the other day in the "Vinyl now playing thread" as I'd received the b&w edition of James Moody's 'Great Day' when I'd ordered the early pressing. so instead of this lovely cover I got this The music still sounds great but... I had wondered if it were something to do with export but obviously not
  9. I'm listening to 'Hornful Of Soul' as my introduction to him, because of this thread. Definitely hear that "great deal of joy" A terrific listen

    Joe Chambers

That second side of Hutcherson's 'Components' and under his own name, 'Almoravid'.
  11. https://www.henleystandard.co.uk/news/home/169825/musician-buys-saxophone-that-belonged-to-jazz-hero.html This is an idiosyncratically parochial report of a nice story. It's as if the paper has no real idea of what a stalwart Themen is. For our non-UK friends, Henley is an affluent, small town best known for it's annual rowing regatta
  12. Yes maybe, but I suspect not more than one of them so that other artists can be covered. I'm not sure how many releases will emerge but I don't see it being so many as to allow multiple titles from artists. I hope I'm wrong. Thankfully my copy is mint so I don't feel the need to upgrade. I remember trips to that museum
  13. Mike Westbrook Concert Band - Release [Deram, mono UK 1968]
  14. This is the cover that came to mind when I saw this thread
  15. James Moody - A Great Day [Cadet, RP] bought the pressing with the lovely colour cover, monochrome one arrived...music's plenty of colour to it
  16. It isn't so! I'd be fascinated to hear what passes muster for inclusion
  17. Exactly. The doc is well worth a watch if you can
  18. Thanks, just found some of it online so will sample. Thanks to your and Hutchfan's advocacy and enthusiasm for Moody I'm always primed to investigate
  19. Is that album as good as the cover suggests?
  20. He wasn't at all as far as I know. Pretty upfront, had his trials like most of us but not mysteries. Serious answer. I'll be interested to see if anyone has a differing view though
  21. Evan Parker & Paul Lytton - At The Unity Theatre [Incus, UK 1975]
  22. Peter Brotzmann, Milford Graves, William Parker - Historic Music, Past Tense Future [Black Editions, 2022] Oh Yes!
  23. Belfast is a masterpiece. Very resonant.
