Just to say I think it's a very strong recording indeed (I've been lucky to have it for a week or so). Anyone who's enjoyed the previous Ensemble albums will doubtless enjoy this. Those new to Alex's music, this is a great place to start. Rich and involving music, that often belies its complexity with immediacy of impact, played by some terrific musicians. (As for the marketing team...good job AH is on the case ) I meant to follow that up and forgot, thanks for the reminder. Great line-up

I was the target audience for 'Bat Out Of Hell' as a 16yo. Still vividly remember an amazing OGWT performance with Ellen Foley, I think. Can't argue with that voice and stagecraft. He'll be remembered, that's certain

Paul Bley - Blood [Fontana, Netherlands 1966]

I think I've just fallen back into the black hole that is the Bley trio discography as I didn't know about the two Savoy LPs released in the 80s. @colinmce, can you help me out as you've done all the hard work, what's the relationship between the Savoy 80s LPs 'Floater' and 'Syndrome' (or the CD Floater Syndrome which compiles them] with 'Footloose' from 1963? Do the two 80s LPs cover all the 1963 issue plus some from the same session? If so, are the tracks that are extra to 'Footloose' available elsewhere before the 80s releases?

I love that track, kind of wish I didn't know there was an alternate. Is it worth the purchase of a whole album I ask myself

Helen Merrill with the Gary Peacock Trio - Sposin' [Storyville, Denmark 1971] first listen to this, stunning. My introduction to Merrill but purchased primarily because of Peacock and his Japanese trio
