  1. Thanks for the heads-up. One of the best gigs I have ever been to, honestly...LP will be special! One of the best gigs ever to coincide with my father's 80th birthday - hence I'm buying the LP as compensation for missing the gig. THe BBC broadcast whetted my appetite
  2. I'd very much like to get this one, pity amount the minimalist cover though That's the second time recently the "image gremlin" has played havoc.....it's good but not essential, I'd say.
  3. Lennart Aberg - Parial solar eclipse [japo]
  4. There's a copy for sale on Oxfam's UK site for £125. You get great music and fund a good cause
  5. have you seen this? http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/2395053/489193963/Ghostly-Thoughts-/ListingDetails.html cheaper than the two copies currently on Discogs
  6. Oh, I'm very envious. That's a great LP 2 LPs actually! same group as. listened to this as well Yes, I have 5th Power but never come across an affordable African Children I'm intrigued, how does it sound? Really great music and fidelity. thanks. I'll investigate
  7. Wow, never seen or heard of that! Talking of Charig, does anyone know Charig/Fisher/Floridis ‎– Amore [jnd]?
  8. Yes, I wondered about that too. There's a least a couple where the current bid is beyond the Discogs price that you see quite regularly. I think it's interesting how the auction psychology works against folk checking prices from other sources, Still, wouldn't mind owning a fair few of these - lottery win pending
  9. Homefromtheforest, it was me that posted the Braxton - unfortunately I don't have the other BYG to compare but "This time..." is very strong - a nice contrast between the two sides between two long compositions and a selection of great short compostions which even had me thinking that they sounded like early distant relatives of Ghost Trance Music. I can't see anyone who enjoys Braxton of that vintage not liking this. I suspect Clifford will indeed be able to make a comparison between the two as may other Braxtonphiles amongst us I'm intrigued, how does it sound?
  10. Oh, I'm very envious. That's a great LP
  11. Anthony Braxton - this time [bYG]. complete with the trademark BYG pressing fault (nice bubble). Music's great though
  12. check Spotify to trial them. all three volumes (in UK at least)
  13. Interesting to hear your views on the Dudek (Psi?) which I've often flirted with as I have an excellent 70's trio on Atavistic (FMP orig iirc) The other three I can thoroughly recommend. I don't think you'll be disappointed by any of them - the Carter/Bradford and Challenge are both gems in different ways Recent news is that Emanem are relocating to Spain, I believe. That'll mean extra postage cots, I suspect. They did recently have a fair number of titles discounted to £7
  14. New release from the good folk at Cafe Oto. LP or download Roscoe Mitchell, Tony Marsh, John Edwards http://otoroku.cafeoto.co.uk/products/516318-roscoe-mitchell-tony-marsh-john-edwards-improvisations available for pre-order
  15. absolutely with you on this one. I've never understood the need to clap at the end of a solo and why it's become such a reflex for so many. Not least it always obscures the following contribution. I find it interesting that this doesn't happen at the more improv end of the spectrum where audiences seem to remain quieter throughout. It's the 'jazz' crowd that seem to want to do it more Notice how it's the drum solo that always gets the biggest response. The main clapping is largely reflex. But there's something (seemingly) athletic and physical about a drum solo that seems to elicit real enthusiasm. I thought that was just relief

  17. But not before I bought Wildflowers and Illusions on the back of it.
  18. Neither I'm afraid. Sorry about that, the image was there when I pressed 'post' honest. Something very odd is happening today because as I type this it's in a different font and small without the usual 'font' and 'size' adjust options available. Anyway the image was of the cover for Brotzmann/Hamid Drake - Solid and Spirit [Nero's Neptune] edit to add: having posted I'm relieved to see the odd font issue hasn't translated to the post - too weird Glad to see you got a copy. A few outlets in the UK seem to list it. Its a fine album. I'm not sure of there really is afrenzy over getting hold of this one or whether Oto just sold what they had quickly. Recommended whatever Yes, I'm enjoying it. I think Oto quite successfully created the "frenzy" - at least in my head

  20. edit to apologise for intriguing image. Decided not to delete so that following posts make sense edit 2: to wonder why initial odd image disappeared after first edit - I just give up!
  21. Marvellous album
  22. Vinny Golia Trio - In the right order [Nine Winds]
  23. and dress sense....
  24. I'm very happy to say I was there. Lucky you! I revisited the LP after a number of years and enjoyed it a great deal. I was struck by the rhythm section as much as anything else. The liner notes seem to suggest it was a lengthy concert with more than on these four sides - I'm not aware of more of it being released, are you? Perhaps no edits on the CD? LP (according to discogs.com): A1Jas Van (For James VanDerzee)15:06, A2Home (Part 1)8:00, BSecret Of The Circle19:03, C1Home (Part 2)8:40, C2Murray's Steps15:23, DConcion De Amor En Espanol (Spanish Love Song)23:20 1999 CD (from my own collection): Disc 1 JasVan (20.01), Home (16.20), Secret of the Circle (21.27), Nairobia (17.30) Disc 2 Flowers for Albert (28.57), Murray's Steps (17.34), Concion de Amor en Espanol (23.40) Back cover indicates Nairobia and Flowers for Albert were previously unreleased. Thank you. I'd forgotten there'd been a CD release. Those timings add up to about two hours thirty - a lot of music
