  1. Clifford Jordan - In The World [Polydor, UK 1972]
  2. It's just a marketing term now, used fast and loose. It's getting close to undermining any true meaning conpletely I do think it's interesting that it's become a style that is adopted by new bands some in an almost "by numbers" approach which can lead to varying degrees of contrivance and success. Some examples I can get along with well, others drive me screaming away Try Web Web as an example of this, it's as if they've ticked every 'Spiritual Jazz' box. https://webweb.bandcamp.com/album/web-max I regard this as a better example, your view may differ
  3. Thanks, in my Discogs cart waiting for a moment of weakness... Only Japanese sellers so far, wondering if it will get closer distribution
  4. @PimThat looks a great edition, is it the latest P-Vine 45rpm? I prefer this album to GBG and have a UK original but that looks very tempting
  5. Love that duet. The Kikuchi reissue is very good, just listened to it prompted by your post
  6. Masabumi Kikuchi Quintet - End For The Beginning [Universal Music, Japan 2021 RE]
  7. That's a good one. A very nice LP reissue was done a couple of years back 👍
  8. Lester Bowie - All The Magic! [ECM, Germany 1983] Branch invariably makes me think of Lester
  9. jaimie branch - Fly Or Die Fly Or Die Fly Or Die ((world war)) [International Anthem, 2023] First listen, so sad, such a major loss
  10. How is that? I've never heard it
  11. Wish he'd come to London
  12. I much prefer the other Cohen, he's done some really impressive work. The bass player I have always found too much technique over content.
  13. Thanks, I'll find a stream
  14. I like Wilson but haven't heard that one, any good?
  15. Art Pepper - The Trip
  16. Endea Owens and The Cookout - Feel Good Music
  17. Love that and most of Texier's output on that label. They can sound a little too similar though
  18. I'll keep an eye out Edit to add: just looked at Discogs and seen that prices are creeping up. Lots of unsold copies suggests crept too far
  19. This is new to me. Mike Carr is always interesting
  20. Niescier, Savannah, Reid - Beyond Dragons [Intakt]
  21. Two a penny round here

Shame might be a bit harsh
  23. Mine arrived yesterday too but not had a listen yet so heartened by your positive impressions. I have an earlier Niescier on Enja with Sorey and Thomas Morgan making the trio, well worth a listen. Savannah Harris is a new name to me too. I seem to have forgotten to order the new Stones album...

Saw him live, bought an album, largely memorable for his undoubted stamina but not a lot else. I'm interested to know who's quoting him as an influence, are they Jazz players? I hear his music as being more Rock adjacent
  25. He was in the audience at my local Jazz venue on Thursday. Sadly didn't get up to play
