  1. That makes it sound particularly intriguing
  2. That's sad news. Always enjoyed his playing. Only ever saw him with the reformed Psychedelic Furs, by accident.
  3. Thanks but we're discussing Tyshawn Sorey not Sullivan Fortner whoever he is.
  4. The Necks at Kings Place. If you know the Necks you already know what it was like. No deviation from their compellingly hypnotic modus operandi
  5. How is that? One of the Togashis I have steered away from fearing a lightweight travelogue. It's probably streamable, I should look
  6. Really, I wasn't aware. Thank you. Do you know the label? I can't find any reference online.
  7. On that evidence, a fine pianist. A recording would be great
  8. Tyshawn Sorey, piano solo. At Oto, packed to the rafters. Played in the dark, 50 minute improvisation and then 15 minute encore. Extraordinary
  9. I know George but just not listened closely. I'll check this out. That sounds like a hell of a week. Hope it calms down for everyone concerned soon.
  10. Great cover, don't know the album. Hope the virus and attendant hospital visits have subsided
  11. Charles Lloyd Ocean trio at the Barbican last night. Some beautiful playing from all three. Cleverly paced with Clayton and Sewell doing some heavy lifting to give Lloyd plenty of rest. He looked notably less mobile than 4 years ago but when he played he played at length and strongly.
  12. I've been streaming that. A talent, I think
  13. 'Medina' is the big one for me. I've stopped buying TPs of titles I already own as long as the originals play well
  14. Or open a shop...
  15. That's the evening gig. He is also doing a piano solo at 4pm I bet. Diehl is a new name to me
  16. Got this yesterday, I'm very impressed Sorey's playing a piano solo gig tomorrow which I hope to get to
  17. I listened to some this morning and liked it. Agree, it's not Jazz but does have Carlos NiƱo, Nate Mercereau and Surya Botofasina, all of whom I enjoy, playing on it so fits very easily into that west coast scene And it's already generated some real Jazz flute posts on X
  18. Yes, recently. They seem to give a fair enough price and are very pleasant to deal with. Otherwise I go to Flashback who seem to take most anything Jazz. I'm building up to my third clear out of the year. If I continue to buy it becomes the only option
  19. I do still have my 2112 LP somewhere, just couldn't sell it. Genesis also featured for me but not as prominently
  20. Taborn solo is one of the most concentratedly intense gigs I've seen. It must be nearly ten years ago and it still gives me shivers. He's in London soon so may have to repeat the experience
  21. Call the nice men from Atlantis Records, they always help me in this situation
  22. Enjoy. I loved Rush in the mid to late 70s, not sure enough to read a bio though. From the Guardian today https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2023/nov/16/rush-geddy-lee-reader-interview
  23. I chose the wrong day not to go to Kings X! I haven't seen any promotion of that BN shop but remember they did similar at a previous LJF. Off to see Charles tomorrow
  24. That's very tempting. I had about 8 of them but they disappeared...
  25. The addition of Fennesz is very interesting considering the rest of the line up is made up of players who must know each other pretty well. I have streamed it once and need to revisit
