  1. Joe has a musical finesse and sensivity that is very compelling. If I ever get to the point where I would want to seriously study jazz guitar (maybe after the next Root Doctor release), there are only two guys I would approach in this state for guidance, inspirations (and if they would have me) jazz lessons. Perry Hughes and Joe Gloss. Perry is hardly new, but I wonder how many people have heard of him. g
  2. These two vids must be making the rounds. A friend sent me both Google links. That would be a lot of work to get that solo under your fingers. I like his celebration at the end!
  3. hmmm <thinking> Joe, knows quite a bit of Bluegrass actually.... hmmm orga-hodow-nissimo Kind of flows off the lips. Don't ya think?

    PRINCE

Oh man, am I gonna pay the price for this one... Miss Kelly actually has some rather clever songcrafting goin on. At least on a couple of her recent tunes. And NO, I don't own any of her albums, but she is much better than most of the crap on the radio. I think the American Idol funk may be holding her back a bit (ironically).

    PRINCE

All said and done, Prince has had an amazing career and I doubt that it is even close to being over. I am very curious about his most recent stuff... g
  6. Well, back in those days, what was considered rock and roll was a lot closer to jazz than it is now. They can't call it rock-n-roll anymore cuz the roll is gone. The roll was Kenny!
  7. And yet so many young and schooled "jazz" cats can't play rock-n-roll. Oh the irony...
  8. I am going to buy this. But you knew that didn't you? Man...
  9. Dude, I am over 1000. Where are you mister?? huh... huh...oh wait... DAMN!! My humble apologies sir.
  10. I haven't been paying attention, where am I now?? Damn, I missed my 1000?! Oh well...
  11. No wonder you post that silly crap in the political thread. ouch and ZINGA!
  12. My 8 year old was with me while I was out junkin' at garage sales. We came across an antique typewriter. She was fasinated with the thing. I guess I was as a kid too.
  13. The only caveat I'd throw out, is there is no way to show that the money is actually going to go toward charity. I prefer to go through established and reputable agencies. The whole thing just seems fishy. I hope I am wrong. g
  14. You are admitting this Greg?! Man, that's all I got. oopps
  15. Elvin Jones/Elvin Bishop
  16. I just noticed they are selling the Root Doctor cd for less than the organissimo. What the heck??? No comments from the peanut gallery pls.
  17. Sweet! One place above Soulive! Not that it is a competition or anything.
  18. You guys are mean. Funny, but mean. But I imagine you are quite suspicious of this post as am I. If the guy is on the up and up, I hate to make too much fun.
  19. Three of those actually were mentioned above, but they bear repeating. Eric, here's a shot of KB with the Gibson L5 he was using circa '63 / '64, customized with a "Charlie Christian" pickup... what a sound. Apparently that guitar was lost or stolen. On "Night Song", and some other recordings from the late '60's, he was using a bigger guitar (an 18" D'Angelico), also with a single-coil pickup (a DeArmond 1100). Luscious sound. Beautiful guitars. Wonderful musician.
  20. lol You so read my mind! As Jim will attest...I am in the doghouse with my wife regarding my own excessive cd purchases.
  21. Yeah, BFrank, thanks I really enjoyed reading something positive about the music biz, and about Steve Winwood.
  22. Not sure if I can make it out fellas. Got in about 4:00 from the gig last night and up early with kids. Momma is working this weekend. However, I'll be there in spirit. Mark if I haven't already mailed it, Jimmy will have something for you (can't remember if I sent it). Kick butt fellas!! Greg
