  1. The cover picture is stolen from the "Jazz Impressions..." album.
  2. Also German issues of some titles (by Metronome) seem to have been green.
  3. Thanks for letting us know! It also made me change back my avatar...
  4. We've visited you daily for some time, and now you're telling us you didn't even know what it was all about! Anyway, I think the "visitors" are simply those who have viewed your forum profile. For that matter, I don't have any visitors at all. I suppose that means noone has visited my profile page since this feature was introduced. But you can't have a look, because then it'll show I've had a visitor after all...
  5. A few good solos here and there, but Woods had become a bit mannered at this point already. The compositions are nothing too special. Nice, but not memorable IMO.
  6. There is a minute-long quote from Rite of Spring in a Clare Fishcer big-band composition on the Pacific Jazz 'Manteca' album (can't remember the title). It has a latin beat to it. As for Skip Martin, he's a bit stiff in places, no? Nevertheless, 'Sheherajazz' brought a smile to my face.
  7. Send me some MP3s, my friend!
  8. On the other hand it appears that he had quite serious mental problems. This is an episode from "Thelonious Monk - His Life and Music" by Thomas Fitterling (Berkeley Hills, 1997) This is the kind of episode which seems likely to turn up in the film...
  9. Actually, I've returned to this album a couple of times recently and found it rather good. Is it getting better, or am I getting worse...?
  10. I would think so! Just don't forget to beware of the actual recorded sound, since it's close to unlistenable... :rsly:
  11. Sonet SNTF947, recorded July 8th, 1985, featuring Carter, Red Norvo, Nat Adderley, Horace Parlan, Red Mitchell and Ronnie Gardiner. Tunes: Easy Money, Memories of You, Blues for Lucky Lovers, When Lights Are Low, Here's That Rainy Day and Work Song (with Adderley singing).

    windmill tilter!

So when is 'Windmill Tilter' coming out? It's announced on the Qnote website, but the link for the web shop is broken: http://www.qnote.co.uk/
  13. Besides, using a flash at that disctance is useless.
  14. Sonny Lester was splicing his way well into the late 60s. But that doesn't make it more professional...
  15. Hank Jones recommendations thread started during the first week of the Organissimo forum: Hank Jones
  16. Ordered from Japan:
  17. Forgot to mention that 'Ramblin', while stated as "Out of print", seems to be available from freshsoundrecords.com. At least you can put it in you shopping basket.
  18. The Collectables reissues are mostly mediocre when it comes to sound (look elsewhere on these forums for further rants). Always go for original vinyl if a turntable is at hand. 'Brazilian Mancini' on Vault is not too exciting; 'Ramblin' is said to be rather better but unfortunately I have not heard it myself. Look for several other fine sideman appearances, for example with Roy Ayers.
  19. I wish them both a happy birthday! I'll spin "Here's Love" (Argo, 1963) with Hank, Kenny, Milt Hinton and Elvin right now! For that matter, there's much more under Hank's polished surface than many seem to think.
  20. I'm interested in both, but don't tell sidewinder! Many thanks for checking this out for me! Let me know if you want any help with Swedish stuff some time.
  21. Oh, no.... And that one seems to be something people are holding on to (quite understandably). Not many used copies around.
  22. Speaking of Rearward/Schema, has anyone been in contact with them via e-mail? I've tried to use the address on their site (info@ishtar.it) but the mails are bouncing back. The reason I'm trying to reach them is that it seems impossible to order the Clarke-Boland album "Our Kinda Strauss" though it is still listed on the site; it just doesn't turn up in the shopping cart. A pity if this title is deleted... The website is here.
  23. Thanks! OP probably would be my choice, but I admit that I haven't heard that much jazz cello.
