After noticing that my DVDrw could no longer read some of the DVDs it had burnt itself, I burn my DVDs at a slow rate of x2. No problems since. Other players can still read the fast-burnt DVDs, just that I cannot access them at my own computer which sux of course.

Yes, there is only a faint impression left of that saw. The piano solo settles into an all too repetitive pattern on "In What Direction..." and there it is. Weird this was silenced.

YES!!! opinions differ on this one, but to me it is one of the bestestest ever. It features a bunch of long winded tunes with excellent soloing by all involved. Lee himself isn't prominent here, it is a true group effort with all taking equal places. Recorded in 1971, it has electric bass and electric piano and that may put some off. Although I am not a fan of electric bass, it works real well here. Most likely because the entire concept of the music is somehow different. This is not your regular hardbop date, but rather a peek at something new on the horizon. Something not quite finished, but damn fantastic. The group dynamics are spectacular with all kinds of mutual propelling, bouncing off, kicking into gear, breaking, turning and prodding. Try and find some online samples to test the general waters of sound and atmosphere. Chances are that if you like it, you will like it a lot. I know I do!

what did this look like then? The mini-LP replicas have been abandoned for a couple of batches already in favour of digipacs with a foldout in the cover. The LPR series seems to have some interesting people at the helm, some have cool stoopid tastes, others are more interested in the classics and yet others like the whacky bits. Of course it's a pity there are no alternate takes, left-overs and the lot on these disks, but other than that, it works for me. No doubt this particular album will pop up at a more friendly price if you wait a bit. I'll keep my eyes open as I will want to replace my vinyl dub myself.

you may want to keep an eye on that site and vote on future offers. Not much to choose from right now, but some pretty nice things have been put aside for some pretty lame stuff in the past.

The Redd has recently been reissued in the TOCJ24 series. That one will lack the two alternate takes, but can be had for cheap.
