  1. Yo, have a good one!
  2. Was he that, err, spontaneous? I never heard any of his Amiga etc. recordings?
  3. Hm. I had a friend way back when, a real dopehead, Dave H. One evening - the guy could hardly stand anymore - he sat down behind my drum kit and contemplated the thing for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, he erupted into an ear-drum shattering explosive solo as only people who have never even touched a musical instrument can. That lasted for about 20 minutes. He then went upstairs and slept for about 16 hours. Dave H. had more music in his body than Buckethead will ever have.
  4. I saw Duke Jordan many times around Northern Europe. Always good, often great. One particular evening remains imprinted on my memory: a Ben Webster tribute concert (mid-80s, I think) in Copenhagen (as far as I recall with Clark Terry, Woode on bass and Svend-Erik Nørregaard (?) on drums). Afterwards he was quite talkative as opposed to other gigs at which he seemed to be rather withdrawn in conversations after the gig. A pleasant evening with Jordan being quite the gentleman. P.S.: I think that concert was filmed (by DR 1?) and maybe released somewhere? I never saw it, but if there are shots of the audience, I should be in there pretty much up front - a younger version of myself that is. I don't know if I would recognize myself.
  5. Just saw this now & you're more than welcome. I hope the money keeps coming in. If not, everyone needs to buy more ... or be reminded of the associate links more often ... like now If more money is needed, suggestion 2: Several companies/dealers are making a ton of money from useres here. If you approach them directly, I'm sure you could sell some ad space (have a look at http://9rules com and their three advert spaces just below the main green menu (you could insert such a bar between the forums logo bar and the logged-in bar on this forum). There's money to be made that way. 9rules has clout and a well-defined target audience. So do you here. Companies might well be more than happy to actually advertise here. Try it! Of course, Mosaic doesn't have to worry about advertising here, but they could (damn well ) show some support by placing a regular ad here. If you don't make it too expensive, maybe they (and others) will go for it. Don't offer ad space too cheaply ... $75 and up should be the starting price for a site with such a faithful and large user base. Between the associate income (which, I guess, varies quite a bit from month to month) and let's say three ads, you should be able to cover the server costs plus make a few bucks which you could invest into improvements whenever necessary or into stiff drinks before you have to deal with obnoxious spammers or users. P.S.: I don't think the big O. should turn into ad space, but the links plus three well-designed ads would neither increase server load nor hurt the eyes all too much. And it's for a good cause. If you are contemplating such a move, I could try to find out what the going rates are for a site with X-amount of unique/total hits per hour/day/week/month. Throw me a PM if help is needed. Cheers!
  6. Thanks everyone! I think there are more posts in this thread than I added to the board this past year but, as Guy pointed out correctly , it's tough for someone approaching the age of 102. Just returned on my birthday yesterday from holidays off the African coast, the holidays having been my birthday present to myself. 36-40 degrees (NOT Fahrenheit) and not a single cloud for several weeks, Cacique rum a plenty (for those not in the know: a Venezuelean rum that, ironically, makes Cuba really libre), plenty of Spanish people (and none of those abominable European tourist hordes), plus a killer super last-minute offer which saved me 3/4 of the price in a 4+ (5)-star hotel). Great. Again thanks ... and on with the show.
  7. It's a good job and in regard to accessibility a huge step up from the last layout. Too many people urinating into the pool without knowing how difficult it can be to put a tableless layout together (in your spare time, for free, with tons of reading and cross-referencing, checking and double-checking, next to running a forum such as this one, etc., etc., etc.) Good job! A few things could be improved here and there, but congratulations on the move away from the tables ... it's really tough, as anyone who has actually tried it can attest to. And you did a great job! I'll continue enjoying my holidays far away from the Internet ... Cheers!
  8. One of the best in my collection.
  9. What programme/DVD is that from?
  10. I think it's time we have "Little Pisser" T-shirts made.
  11. Good game. Fun. Italy deserved to win.
  12. "Don't mention the War!"
  13. Yeah, we dug deep holes in late April for all of our beer and so far they haven't sniffed them out.
  14. Everyone knew beforehand that this was not going to be artistry. To be quite honest, I found the Argentinians to be a super huge disappointment. I thought they would be able to open up the game - and they did show they could in the first half - but to win a World Championship, you just have to win against different styles of playing and not hope that you get served the right teams that allow you to play ball. They just didn't have what it takes. Better luck next time. And that sad show at the end? WTF? I can understand that you are disappointed, but that show of utter stupidity was a disgrace and just reinforces what I said before: they don't have what it takes. In my little town here in Germany, the proletariat is hitting the streets in masses. I think I'll join them. Cheers!
  15. Yep, and that's why those strips are on there. To prevent obesity. If you're too lazy to even flip through a stack of CDs, you should at least have to burn some calories trying to get the darn strips off. Invented by Americans for Americans.
  16. That would be an insured package, me thinks.
  17. A site I read frequently recently posted the following snippet of information, which also pops up on many of the "Today in History" sites: June 13, 1920: “In response to separate incidents, the Post Office Department issues a regulation stating that children may not be sent by parcel post.” Does anyone actually have any background information on this? I couldn't find anything but the above fact online. My interest perked up when I read the above. Edit: This would be the US Post Office Department, as far as I can tell.
  18. Oh. My. God. Bluegrass?
  19. And some Barbara Dennerlein, toes and all ...
  20. Have we had this yet? Too many posts in here. Scofield/Smith/Pullen
