  1. Pacman Jones was reinstated by the league today, though he has to sit out two more games. So the Cowboys should have him back after the Thanksgiving game. I'm not sure whether he's worth having back on the field or not - his off-field activity is too much of a risk to depend on him to last through the rest of the season. And if he becomes a starter again he will simply delay the progress of the two rookie backs the Cowboys drafted, Jenkins and Scandrick. He's talented for sure, but not sure he's worth it. Plus his punt returns have been pretty pedestrian this year.
  2. Enjoying the Shine "Heaven and Hell" disc this evening. It's a collaboration with Buckethead and Shin Terai, and also features Nicky Skopelitis, Bernie Worrell, and Robert Musso. Came out in '04, and is sort of a dub/trance version of Praxis. Worth checking out! Not heavy on the guitars, but pretty groovy overall.
  3. Can you send me a zipped file of all of your Mosaic sets?
  4. That reminds me of Kenny G for some reason. Pentatonic Fairy somethin or nother.... Maybe Kenny G's music is the end result of our ever-changing "unconcious".
  5. Evan Parker - Boustrophedon edit - I wonder how they decide which ECM titles are offered on yourmusic/BMG. Would have been if the Roscoe had been made available at the same time.
  6. Haven't heard it, but it sounds like the new Kenny Garrett live disc may fit this bill.
  7. Wonderful letter, Chris! Is that one in your possession? If so how did you come into it?
  8. I think Songbook was probably the last Garrett album I really liked. I should probably give Beyond the Wall some more time though. This new one doesn't sound inspiring enough to check out.
  9. Marcin Wasilewski Trio - January David Sanborn - Here & Gone Irma Thomas - Simply Grand
  10. The Rob Viti Thread is dead, Long Live the Rob Viti Thread!!
  11. Happy Birthday EriC from EriK
  12. This girl can play!!! http://www.tinethinghelseth.com/en/ And she's even Norwegian! Oy - born in 1987, I feel old!
  13. That might explain why Jackson wasn't doing David Weiss' Golden Boy/Blakey Tribute show last weekend in New York then! Enjoy the show, Mike!
  14. He plays a vague blend of country/tropical/caribbean music that is very simplistic, designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator, mainly when people are gathered to drink. That's really about all one needs to know, I think.
  15. If these are Disconforme issues, why would they be dressing them up as Blue Note and Pacific Jazz releases? At least with their other titles where they're stealing other masters and issuing them under their own name, they're not trying to hide what they're doing. To the casual eyes these look like legitimate BN/Pacific reissues, regardless of quality.
  16. Jim - Out of curiousity, is there a (somewhat) comprehensive listing of what you've worked on available somewhere?
  17. "Too Old To Rock 'n' Roll: Too Young To Die" The old Rocker wore his hair too long, wore his trouser cuffs too tight. Unfashionable to the end --- drank his ale too light. Death's head belt buckle --- yesterday's dreams --- the transport caf' prophet of doom. Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams in his post-war-babe gloom. Now he's too old to Rock'n'Roll but he's too young to die. He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville. Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs and prays that he always will. But he's the last of the blue blood greaser boys all of his mates are doing time: married with three kids up by the ring road sold their souls straight down the line. And some of them own little sports cars and meet at the tennis club do's. For drinks on a Sunday --- work on Monday. They've thrown away their blue suede shoes. Now they're too old to Rock'n'Roll and they're too young to die. So the old Rocker gets out his bike to make a ton before he takes his leave. Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner just like it used to be. And as he flies --- tears in his eyes --- his wind-whipped words echo the final take and he hits the trunk road doing around 120 with no room left to brake. And he was too old to Rock'n'Roll but he was too young to die. No, you're never too old to Rock'n'Roll if you're too young to die.
  18. Those two titles are also at my local Half Price store. I'm curious if others will suddenly start showing up too. Odd.
  19. Remember that's gotta be split 3 ways!
  20. I actually like this album, despite Page's relative MIA status. It's just different than prior LZ albums.
  21. Give him a call - I'm sure he'd love to hear from you again!
  22. I don't know about the trailer, but the movie is a very visual/trippy looking musical fantasy set in the 60's.
