Jeez, I picked a bad week to have a bad week. Too many reaches. I guess I'll get more conservative again, though I don't think I'll be able to catch up regardless. -
We all live in a yellow tambourine. OOPS! Corrected. I liked it with tambourine better!

Have they come out and said it's Kolb's job for the rest of the season? Or was McNabb just canned for today's game, and be back next weekend?

Alot of good discussion in this Mother Ship thread.

Texas Tech hasn't looked good tonight against Oklahoma, currently 21-0 Oklahoma solidly in control. Tech's offense hasn't done anything to speak of. Maybe they're not quite ready to play for national championship caliber games just yet.

Happy Birthday!!

They are still out there if you google (see here for instance, and they ship internationally).

I think you may be right too, but how would he handle all of the *other* numbers that don't add up to 9? They don't have a corresponding rule like that. He'll only get lucky that they give him a number that adds up to 9 about 10% of the time on average.

Dr Pepper issues challenge to Guns N' Roses
Aggie87 replied to dave9199's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Dr Pepper to deliver on its free-soda promise LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Dr Pepper is making good on its promise of free soda now that the release of Guns N' Roses' "Chinese Democracy" is a reality. The soft-drink maker said in March that it would give a free soda to everyone in America if the album dropped in 2008. "Chinese Democracy," infamously delayed since recording began in 1994, goes on sale Sunday. "We never thought this day would come," Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper's vice president of marketing, said in a statement. "But now that it's here, all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us." Beginning Sunday at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28. Dr Pepper is owned by Dr Pepper Snapple Group, Inc. -
I have his duets disc with Bill Stewart, which is very nice. He's also on Phil Grenadier's "Playful Intentions" on FSNT, which is worth checking out - also has Kurt Rosenwinkel, Larry Grenadier, and Jeff Ballard on it.

What Toyota knows that GM doesn’t

Perhaps -- EXCEPT that the gas mileage for a station wagon is probably at least 30% to maybe even 40% or 50% better than for most SUV's. I don't find this to be true in my case. My last car when I was married was a '99 Volvo V70 station wagon. It got about 23 mpg highway. My current SUV (Toyota 4Runner) gets 22 on the highway. The difference is negligible, and they're comparable vehicles in terms of quality and size, IMO. And functionally they are the same to me, still. Both serve the same purpose - adequate seating room and ample covered storage area. Your argument may make sense if you're comparing a small car's mileage to something like the ginormous Ford Expeditions. But the target market for these vehicles are markedly different from one another. -
Jazz is the philosophers stone of new "indie rock"

I don't think alot of folks here are opposed to listening to new, up and coming music at all. I do think most of us don't care for spam though, and I still see this original post as spam. We are all at different points in our listening lives. Some of us only like one era of jazz, others are all over the place, and still others don't post alot about jazz (or music) at all here, whether it's all they listen to or not. Many of us originally came from another board where the thing that united us was talking about classic jazz, which generally meant 50's-60's stuff. Some prefer to stick with that, as it's the music they've loved for most of their lives. Others are just discovering jazz, which typically means that era's a starting point, before people branch out and explore what came before and what's come afterwards. It's impossible to classify everyone here as being at the same point in their musical journeys. I can understand getting frustrated by the relative lack of discussion about newer music though. There are often comments in Mehldau threads about him being good, but no Bill Evans. Comments in Frisell or Scofield threads about them not holding a candle to Wes, Grant Green, etc. And these guys aren't even new, but well established! -

I agree with this. I have a mid-size SUV, and it was because I needed the space. Problem is, I don't need that space every day, but when I do need it, I need it. It's perfect for travelling with my kids to see relatives. Typically our drives are 3-4 hrs away and between suitcases, sleeping bags, the (evil) cat and her litter box and food, dvd player for the kids, etc., it fills up rather quickly. I really don't see it being any different functionally than a station wagon. However, since I can't afford two car payments, the SUV is also my every day drive-to-work car. It's more space than I need for that. Prior to this I had a VW Passat, which was a blast to drive, but simply didn't cut it for travelling. -

Romo apparently had another one of these good deed moments: Further evidence that Tony Romo really is a swell fella A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark theater in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. Doc, who planned to spend his day passing out flyers for a few bucks, accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman. "Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the kid behind the counter. It sure was. Doc hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out flyers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, "Role Model" had already started. Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his buddy. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days. "Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms." And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so. For Romo, who made news by changing a couple's tire on the side of the road on the way home the night of the season opener, it was just another kind gesture to a random stranger. It meant the world to Doc. "For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."
