...wait, aren't there girls in the band?

How recent is your information? According to the Miles Beyond website (for whatever that's worth), he was apparently back on the job for the "On the Corner" box set. That update was about 5-6 weeks ago though:

What live music are you going to see tonight?

"She Was Hot" is 23 years old now. Was that really the first time it was played live?? -
I'd like to lose a couple of pounds.

Small aircraft crashes into NYC high rise

Actually they do. They are not stationary wings, but rotary wings. edit - Never mind. Dan's already made this comment. -
Any on-line photos out there that demonstate this?? (Or at least give some hint of the packaging configuration.) Haven't seen one of these sets in person yet (and given the state of the stores around here -- I might not see one for months). If you (or anyone else) are really that curious about the packaging, I noticed there is a picture of it in the current JazzTimes (w/Miles on the cover), on page 2. It shows how the discs overlap when they are in the box.

From the way it sounds, I've got about 3 box sets that are similar. The Faces box set, the Marley Legend Sound + Vision set, and the Billie Holiday Ultimate Collection Sound + Vision. These are mini-boxes (booklet style), and one disc snaps in place so that it overlaps another disc in the packaging. Can't find any pictures of this setup on-line, though.

Thanks for the review Phil. it sounds like it was a very enjoyable show! Was the Fripp/Belew material heavy, or more soundscape-y? I'm trying to gauge whether this might be a direction for the next KC album, or just some experimenting. The Porcupine Tree portion must have been something. 45 minutes of material nobody's ever heard before must have been interesting for the crowd. Here is what one person posted as the second half set list for that show: Open Car The Sound of Muzak Buying New Soul Arriving Somewhere But Not Here .3 The Start of Something Beautiful Trains Encore: Halo Blackest Eyes And here's a photo from the NYC show: Oh, and if you like In Absentia, check out Deadwing, Phil. It can be had for $5.99 at yourmusic.

Slight changes in the California shows (and the Boston location), per the PT website: Oct 05 2006 BOSTON, USA: Berklee Performance Center Oct 06 2006 NEW YORK, USA: Nokia Theater Oct 07 2006 PHILADELPHIA, USA: Keswick Theater Oct 08 2006 Washington, DC at the State Theatre in Falls Church, VA Oct 11 2006 LOS ANGELES, USA: House of Blues Oct 13 2006 SAN FRANCISCO, USA: Fillmore Also, the opening act for the California dates is now the Tony Levin Band. NY, Boston & Philly still have ProjeKct 6, as far as I can tell. And there are some September dates for Yurp, too: Sep 13 2006 CAMBRIDGE, UK: The Junction Sep 15 2006 PARIS, France: Elysée Montmartre Sep 16 2006 ANTWERP, Belgium: Hof Ter Lo Sep 18 2006 ROMA, Italy: Teatro Tendastrisce Sep 19 2006 MILANO, Italy: Rolling Stone Sep 21 2006 PRATTELN, Switzerland: Z7 Sep 22 2006 MÜNCHEN, Germany: Muffathalle Sep 23 2006 SAARBRÜCKEN, Germany: Garage Sep 25 2006 HAMBURG, Germany: Große Freiheit 36 Sep 26 2006 ESSEN, Germany: Weststadthalle Sep 27 2006 AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands: Paradiso Sep 29 2006 LONDON, UK: Astoria Sep 30 2006 MANCHESTER, UK: Manchester University, Oxford Road Oct 01 2006 GLASGOW, UK: Carling Academy edited to add Oct 8 show in Washington DC (w/ProjeKct 6) up - anybody here get to see any of these shows so far? PT are playing Los Angeles tomorrow night, and San Francisco on the 13th. From all accounts I've read, the shows have been quite good. About half the material has is stuff they're working on for their next studio cd, so it's new, but the feedback seems pretty positive. I'm curious about the ProjeKct 6 stuff as well. Very ready for another Crimson studio recording.

Can we get a separate "happy Birthday" forum
Aggie87 replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Forums Discussion
What would be the benefit of having a forum for these threads? There will be the same number of threads either way. And searching for a specific one would involve the same effort, I'd think. -
I'm sure Big Al enjoyed this game! It's gotta be Romo time in Dallas. Bledsoe is a tease, and has been that way for a long time. He'll play great one week, then crappy the next. He's had his bell run too many times, I think. He'll never get the Cowboys to the big game. I would have liked to have seen a surprise start by Romo today. I think it might have made the difference in this game, having someone who can move AND can get rid of the ball a bit quicker. You know T.O. was thinking that too.

Heck, $225 per disc ain't nothing. Check this out!

The Chartbusters, feat. Dr. Lonnie Smith a.o.
Aggie87 replied to mikeweil's topic in Artists & Recordings
It's well worth that price. Also, don't overlook the other Chartbusters release, by essentially the same lineup, which is a Blue Note covers set. This one was recorded in January 95. -
I dunno if this is the longest suspension ever in the NFL, but it's certainly up there (edit - other than the season long drug suspensions) Haynesworth gets five-game suspension for kick NEW YORK (AP) -- Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was suspended five games for kicking Dallas center Andre Gurode in the face during Sunday's game. The NFL said Monday that Haynesworth was suspended for flagrant unnecessary roughness. The suspension, which is without pay, is effective immediately. Haynesworth will be eligible to return to the field Nov. 19 for the Titans' game at Philadelphia. "There is absolutely no place in the game, or anywhere else, for the inexcusable action that occurred in yesterday's Titans-Cowboys game," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said.

Albert Haynesworth is a classless punk. He ripped off Andre Gurode's helmet after a play, and while Gurode was on the ground, he stepped on his head, with his cleats. Gurode needed 30 stitches to close up the gashes, and had blurry vision afterwards. I think he deserves a suspension of some sort, not just one of those $25K fines that are drops in the bucket to those players.

There doesn't seem to be a general Osby thread, so I guess I'll ask here. Has anyone heard the Project Z recording, "Abstract Logix"? It's a Jimmy Herring (Allman Bros & now Widespread Panic) rock/jazz improv thing apparently, and I'm curious about Osby's contributions to it. Is it worth checking out?

A little more info... Terrell Owens reportedly tries suicide By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer DALLAS - Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens tried to kill himself by overdosing on pain medication, police said, even putting two more pills into his mouth after a friend intervened. A Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told his friend "that he was depressed." Details of the report were first released by WFAA-TV. The friend, who is not identified in the report, "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said. The friend attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. Owens was asked by rescue workers "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes.'" Owens was hospitalized late Tuesday because of what his publicist said was an allergic reaction to pain medicine he was taking for a broken hand. Doctors reportedly tried to induce vomiting. Owens is recovering from a broken right hand he hurt a week ago Sunday. He had an operation the next day to have a plate screwed in, enabling the bone to heal without being further injured. Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said last week that the pain medicine made Owens ill. The Cowboys were off this past weekend and Owens was back at practice Tuesday, although he worked out on his own. Parcells said Owens' hand was improving and he was expected back on the practice field Wednesday. Owens chatted briefly with reporters in the locker room Tuesday afternoon and seemed fine. Owens, one of the league's top receivers during his 11-year NFL career, is best known for wild stunts on the field and other publicity-seeking antics off it. When the Cowboys signed him to a $25 million, three-year deal in March, they said their background checks indicated no red flags. In fact, team consultant Calvin Hill — who mostly deals with troubled players — said during training camp that his department was not involved with Owens because he didn't have a history of those kinds of problems. Dallas police officials said they were planning a news conference later Wednesday, did not immediately release a time. A hospital spokeswoman said early Wednesday there was no patient registered as Terrell Owens, although federal privacy laws allow people to block their name from being released. Owens' publicist and agent, and the Cowboys, did not return repeated calls from The Associated Press. No teammates or Cowboys officials were seen entering the hospital late Tuesday night.

Report: Owens attempted suicide WFAA-TV in Dallas is reporting that Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens attempted to commit suicide Tuesday night. According to a Dallas Police report obtained by the station, Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. WFAA says the report states a woman companion said that she observed Owens putting two pills in his mouth. The woman said the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18 and -- until Tuesday -- Owens had taken only five pills. The police report said Owens was asked if he had taken the rest of the prescription; Owens said, "Yes." The Dallas Cowboys have no comment on the story.
