  1. Thanks to Rachel, Europe, singing The Final Countdown...
  2. I finally got a tracking number late last night! Woohoo! Oddly, my package is going north, instead of east. Is it normal for a package leaving "Beverly Hills CA" to go all the way to Sacramento, en route to south Texas? edit - AND spend 12 hrs at their facility in Sacto for no apparent reason? edit - never mind again. Just realized the package actually originated in San Leandro, which looks to be an Oakland 'burb. Still slow going, though.

  4. Brewer was the bassist on Osby's last leader-date, "Channel Three", which is a trio recording with Tain Watts.
  5. Can you share a stock number for this, by any chance?
  6. No, what you need is a deck made of Trex. Be careful how many people you let on your deck, Chuck.
  7. The Ron Burgundy version of "Afternoon Delight"...
  8. I broke down and called Concord again today. The person I spoke with this time said my order is in a box in their warehouse, waiting for Fedex to pick it up. She expected that to happen around 4 pm pacific time today. Once that happens, they will email me my tracking number. I'll believe it when I see it. I guess at these prices this is the sacrifice we make.
  9. According to Apple's ipod website, a 2GB Nano will hold 500 songs (@ 4 mins apiece), or 2000 minutes worth of music. This translates to about 28 cds, assuming they are 70 minutes long. That means you could get roughly 4 Mosaic sets on there, if they are 7 disc sets.
  10. Fast reply posts your comment more quickly Actually, it just brings up a little window at the bottom of the thread where you can type your comment in and hit "post" right away. It doesn't give you the option of smileys or hyperlinks or images or things like that, just quick text posting. edit - I believe the Hoffman forums have the quick reply "window" always set to show up at the bottom of a thread, not an on/off type thing. I can't verify that because their board seems to have been down for a few days or something.
  11. Heads up for a new Metheny release: (i cross posted this in the Mehldau thread too)...
  12. Heads up for another Mehldau release coming up at the end of August: Pat Metheny & Brad Mehldau!
  13. I just gave a spin to the Material disc. Best I can tell, Wayne plays on: Black Light Eternal Drift Words of Advice Cucumber Slumber (Fluxus Mix) There are 20 performers on this thing, and instruments I'm not familiar with by name (baglama, ney, ghatam, qanoun, daff, and chatan), plus samples and synthesizers, so it's not always entirely clear to me what's being played by whom. I like the disc though, it's a fun listen.
  14. Are they the same ones, or do they have different titles now? heck, I guess i should go look....
  15. Attitudes like yours (and their results) - about it being just fine and dandy to CDR that you aren't paying for - contribute significantly to decline of the music business, and the disappearing mom-and-pop music stores, and the decrease in good music on ANY store shelves. Let me get this straight - you are a college graduate (?) heading towards a career in law, and you don't have a problem committing illegal activities that HURT the music you love?
  16. I enjoy the Rat thread as it is, actually too. And I can understand your point about the small "two post threads" as well, Flurin. I didn't really see the value in creating a whole new forum for a specific music category (if you can consider the music discussed in Funny Rat to be a specific style), that was really my main point, I suppose. If we did that should we create forums for "bebop", "hardbop", "dixieland", etc., which really becomes more about labelling the music instead of simply enjoying it. And there are too many things which aren't easily labelled (which is fine!).
  17. Finally called them today, and the person i spoke with (who didn't seem frazzled or upset, luckily) told me that typically things go to the warehouse in 5-7 days from the time of order, and then it takes 2-3 days for the warehouse to ship the order. So my order last Wednesday is still within the 5-7 day window of being sent to the warehouse apparently. He said I should receive a shipping notice (with tracking number) in a couple of days. I'm not convinced they're sending orders to the warehouse in the order they were received, based on the comments in this thread, but I guess if my order actually arrives here I can't complain too much, at this price.
  18. Bump... Dave Douglas has a new release just out, in the paperback series. This one is Keystone: Live in Sweden. I'm eyeing it, as I really enjoyed the previous paperback set, Live at Bimhuis. The band includes Gene Lake, Marcus Strickland, Adam Benjamin, Brad Jones, and DJ Olive. Anybody order this one yet?
  19. It's difficult to dive in the funny rat thread at times, like taking a sip from a fire hydrant. But couldn't these artists/releases be discussed in the "Artists", "New Releases" and "Recommendations" forums? Seems like a forum for this specific music would be sort of redundant (?).
  20. I'm sure he's very proud of you, even now Will say a prayer for you and your family tonight with my kids. Seconded!
  21. I just pray to get some sort of notification that my order will even be shipped! I'd be delighted with a tracking number!
  22. Man, where does the time go? Happy Happy, dude!
