I don't think he's a regular reader of that board. Or any jazz bb for that matter. I could be wrong, but I think you're wasting your time if you think he'll come back and engage you personally. -
If you get yours and I don't get mine, you gotta send yours to me. If we're playing that game, I want felser's order!!!

Good news for Garrett fans... he has a new album coming out on August 29th, on Nonesuch. This one is titled "Beyond the Wall". Appears to be a tribute (or at least dedicated to) to McCoy Tyner. Tracks: 1. Calling 2. Beyond The Wall 3. Q¨«ng W¨¨n (not sure about this title...LOL) 4. Realization (Marching Towards The Light) 5. Tsunami Song 6. Kiss To The Skies 7. NOW 8. Gwoka 9. May Peace Be Upon Them

bump..... due out on August 29th is a trio album, with Ron Carter & Paul Motian, on Nonesuch. I believe the title of the release is simply their names. Tracks: Eighty-One (R. Carter & M. Davis) 6:20 You Are My Sunshine (Jimmie H. Davis & Charles Mitchell, arr. Bill Frisell) 5:56 Worse and Worse (Bill Frisell) 5:16 Raise Four (Thelonious Monk) 5:15 Pretty Polly (trad., arr. Bill Frisell) 6:56 On the Street Where You Live (Frederick Loewe) 9:25 Monroe (Bill Frisell) 6:05 Introduction (Paul Motian) 4:36 Misterioso (Thelonious Monk) 6:36 I’m So Lonesome, I Could Cry (Hank Williams) 7:54 ...and here's a quote as well:

Damn....still 140 posts behind Ron!!! Thanks Jim -
I don't know--I just ordered and ordered. Email confirmation also says free shipping. I also got free shipping. ....well, you should, since you basically bought half their warehouse!!! edit - would have been nice if they had posted their tiered shipping rates in advance though...i coulda found a few more titles, saved the $15 shipping, and effectively got 5 more discs free...
-
How did you get free shipping? I just ordered 30 titles, and they charged me $15 for Fedex, with no other option. edit - that's STILL $3.48 per disc, shipped to my door, so I ain't complaining THAT much!

I think I lost about 40,000....no wait, that was Jim Sangrey Actually I think I lost about 1800 posts or so, and don't want to lose too much ground to Ron -
Anyone belong to Your music.com?What's the deal?
Aggie87 replied to Jazztropic's topic in Recommendations
Jazztropic - Here is the Yourmusic.com thread. There are a number of worthwhile posts in there that will help you to understand this "club" better. Also it keeps ya up to date with their latest offerings, which haven't been quite as good lately, in terms of jazz. But there are still a number of discs on there that are great for plugging holes in a collection, or trying out something you're not familiar with, for a great price. -Erik -
It's Here: Volume 2: That Devilin Tune, 9 More CDs -
Aggie87 replied to AllenLowe's topic in Offering and Looking For...
"Following his highly acclaimed box set, Minstrel to Mojo: An Audio History of American Popular Song, 1893-1946, saxophonist, audio engineer and historian Allen Lowe recently released the first volume in a new anthology covering classic jazz and its eclectic roots. Titled That Devilin' Tune: A Jazz History, Volume I, the nine-CD set surveys early and pre-jazz music from 1895-1927." JazzTimes, August 2006, p.38. -
I like this disc too, but the Big Band seems to get mixed reviews here. As before, there are existing threads on Dave Holland, and his Big Band. Also a thread on the DHBB live.

You got a mention in the current JazzTimes (w/Stern & Bona on the cover). I'll try and post the comment later, if I remember... -

Picking up Nazr Mohammed as a replacement for Big Ben isn't an upgrade. Thanks for taking him off our hands down in San Antonio. He's certainly serviceable though. Just not very tough or particularly strong. If he built up some arm-strength and developed an attitude, he'd be alright.
