  1. ...this ain't the "Name Three People" thread
  2. Hey, I figure I can skip one bottle of fine single malt for the JJ set, right BF? Isn't that what you did?
  3. Office Basketball Got skills?
  4. Mosaic order just placed - the JJ, along with the Dizzy & Chambers Selects. <sigh> And yep, I've been in weekly contact with Stephan. He assured me the order shipped on March 11th (late due to the warehouse change supposedly). And they shipped with DHL economy airmail, which supposedly takes 12-20 working days to arrive (which would have been April 7th). He told me if it hadn't arrived by this past Monday, he would contact DHL to look for the missing parcel, and prepare a replacement shipment. ...I HOPE that's what's happening now. That was a big order I placed -- I guess I should have placed a smaller order first, to see how well it worked, before plunging in. I don't mind the wait, as long as I know it will arrive - the prices are still fantastic. But it's been frustrating for sure. I expected this during the first week in March or so.
  5. Dangit, y'all are pushing me into the JJ set. ....and I bet it will arrive before my zweitausendeins order from February, too!
  6. If you consider the possibility - as stated in the article - that the phone line actually WAS used illegally after the father passed away, and was in use continuously for roughly 3 months (January to April), that equates to about (3 months * 30 days * 24 hours *60 minutes) 129,600 minutes. Dividing the $218 trillion, you get a per-minute cost of $1,682,098,765.43. ($1.6 Billion/per minute ) What phone service could possibly have a rate like that?? Someone must have had a SERIOUS jones for some phone sex!
  7. ... i'm still getting a laugh over the ".01 ringits" on the bill. Couldn't they just round that off, make it a nice, even 806,400,000,000,000.00?
  8. Whoever used to translate Aric's posts (was it Aric?) into English on the old BNBB, could you work your magic on the last post by SS1?
  9. No comment on the topic, but congrats on post #10,000 Jim!
  10. $218 trillion phone bill uncalled for, man says By The Associated Press KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — A Malaysian man was speechless when he received a $218 trillion phone bill and was ordered to pay up within 10 days or face prosecution, a newspaper reported Monday. Yahaya Wahab said he disconnected his late father's phone line in January after he died and settled the 84 ringgit ($23) bill, the New Straits Times reported. But Telekom Malaysia later sent him a bill for 806,400,000,000,000.01 ringgit ($218 trillion) for recent telephone calls along with orders to settle within 10 days or face legal proceedings, the newspaper reported. It wasn't clear whether the bill was a mistake, or if Yahaya's father's phone line was used illegally after his death. "If the company wants to seek legal action as mentioned in the letter, I'm ready to face it," the paper quoted Yahaya as saying. "In fact, I can't wait to face it." Yahaya, from northern Kedah state, received a notice from the company's debt-collection agency this month, the paper said. Yahaya said he nearly fainted when he saw the new bill. Government-linked Telekom Malaysia is the country's largest telecommunications company. A company official, who declined to be identified because she was not authorized to speak to the media, said Telekom Malaysia was aware of Yahaya's case and would address it.

  14. It tells me we all have diffferent tastes, likes, dislikes, and things we have not yet discovered. Nothing wrong with that! We have certain likes and dislikes and priorities when it comes to purchasing music that are reflective of who we are as people and how we view the world. Nothing at all wrong with that. It's just insightful is all...sometime predictably so. So if Person A is lacking in Sun Ra, does that tell you something about the person that's different from Person B, who may not have begun exploring Red Norvo? And tell you something that reflects who they are as people and how they view the world? edit - and do these assumptions pertain only to people in red and blue states, or world wide?

  16. Check this one out! I figure since they're selling a box, it fits in the box set thread

  21. I think this is the key. These positions have evolved into news readers, not anchors with substance and credibility as in generations past. The requirements (and definitions) for a successful anchor seem to have changed quite a bit. I think Couric fits the bill for a current anchor. She can read a teleprompter, and doesn't hurt your eyes. Isn't that essentially what Brian Williams, Bob Woodruff, & Elizabeth Vargas are, too? "Image is Everything" - Andre Agassi in those old camera commercials
  22. I can picture it. It's gonna happen whether we can imagine it or not. Headline News & CNN have female anchors already (probably some of the other channels do as well). I can picture (and have seen) Rudi Bahktiar, Robin Meade, and Christi Paul sharing serious information. I think Couric will be fine. edit - I tend to agree with Randy Twizzle too though. It's a rare night that I actually watch the CBS/ABC/NBC evening news. If I want to see what's going on, I'll either check one of the news channels, or go online.
  23. The first four U.S. albums (Meet the Beatles, Second Album, Something New, and Beatles '65) have already been remastered and released as a box set. The box contains both stereo and mono mixes for each album. The next four have been remastered and are due out in another box set next week. These are The Early Beatles, Beatles VI, Help!, and Rubber Soul. These are going to be in both mono and stereo as well, though there has been ALOT of discussion (see SH forums) about there being some sort of mixup with this box that is supposedly being corrected already. Also, Let It Be has been remixed (on the Let It Be Naked release, which mixed the Spector stuff off of the release altogether), as has the Yellow Submarine Songtrack. And the Beatles 1 release was either remixed or remastered or both, too. They ARE remastering (and/or remixing) this stuff, albeit slowly. edit - I think after the second Capitol U.S. box, the UK/US releases were essentially the same. So I don't know if the series will continue as is for the rest of the catalogue proper, or if it will turn into straight remasters of the remaining releases. There are other things that have been discussed as possibilities for the third box set, such as the Live at the Hollywood Bowl LP, the Fan Club Christmas releases, the Past Masters stuff, and things like that.
  24. Jerry's salmon colored toilet? I've heard through the Live Chat grapevine that it is presently residing in the backyard of Ron S. somewhere in Philly....
  25. I wonder if "Buffalo Bill" was involved with producing the box.
