  1. I thought that everything had been issued on Ace. What am I missing? I've got I'm a king bee Shake your hips Tip on in Best of (which has different takes to some cuts) Oh - I see I haven't got this live one Sting it then Better put that on my list for 2014. Is there anything else, Guv? MG There's this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000005KIH/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=1387325147&sr=8-12&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 And there's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Im-King-Bee-Slim-Harpo/dp/B0054DAHZG/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1387391550&sr=1-1&keywords=slim+harpo+I%27m+a+king+bee+flyright A CD collection compiled from two Flyright LPs (minus three cuts) - recordings from the Jay Miller Archives which never made it it to Excello. Being a Slim Harpo completist can get pretty involved. Precisely why we need a good box set! I find that a little Slim Harpo goes a long way......just my opinion.
  2. It's available now from: http://www.themusicindex.com/store/duskfire/norma_winstone.htm
  3. I see it.....half way down the right-hand column for "Europe"....
  4. The map suggests that Afghanistan and most of Africa don't seem to know what day of the week it is! Not much new there, then.
  5. How many more releases of these albums does the world need?
  6. Two copies for sale on Discogs for $40 + shipping. Both in the US.
  7. There's one other Jef Gilson that's available direct from Futura/Marge Records in France. It's not possible to link direct to the album, but link to this: http://futuramarge.free.fr/ click on the "Futura" button and then click on "Musiciens". Scroll down to Jef Gilson and you'll find details of the album - "Sahib Shihab + Gilson Unit". There's a sound sample of one of the tracks to check whether it's something you'll like.S
  8. It's bits and pieces but very enjoyable. It's described on the cover as "A collection of previoulsy unreleased recordings, rehearsals, demos and alternate takes from the personal archive of the brilliant French jazz innovator." Another other album of his, again released by Jazzman Records, is a "best of" compilation, which again is well worth getting: http://www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk/the-best-of-jef-gilson-cd
  9. Some of the Jef Gilson archives have been released recently by Jazzman records: http://www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk/jef-gilson-archives-cd but I too would love to see those marvellous Palm albums given a re-issue program.
  10. Lon A friend of mine went to the concert that night and Jarrett mentioned that he had seen the article with Chick's photo identfied as Keith. Apparently, Jarrett talked about it with good-humored resignation. Oh, that's a pity. I was hoping for a hissy-fit!
  11. Now "Currently Unavailable" at IMPORTCDs so it looks like I won't be receiving it before Christmas...what a bummer. I just hope they'll be getting more stock in.........Jonathan?
  12. ...you won't get an answer
  13. What sad news - I've been listening to and watching Stan play for the last 45 years. I know he's not been in the best of health recently (several postponed concerts) but this news has upset me more than I expected.
  14. ... and very nice it is too. Thanks for recommending it to us Chuck!
  15. If I remember correctly Mosaic didn't do a Keynote box because of licensing problems - something that doesn't bother Fresh Sound Absolutely.....and I wonder where Fresh Sound will have sourced their music and what the quality will be like. If it's like most of their releases it will be a mixture of lossless, mp3 and needle drops.
  16. Thanks for the heads-up, Roger!
  17. Celebration..... Keystone Korner......er no, not that one.
  18. Flute Fever arrived today. Did you get this from ImportCDs because it's showing with release date of 10 December on their website. I only ask because I have a copy on order from them and have heard nothing so far.
  19. Saw this group at Ronnie Scott's club last year and they were top notch. I would agree that Vincent Herring seems to be the leader. As well as playing a number of blistering solos, he did all the introductions and told a number of amusing anecdotes.
  20. He's very good on this one too:
  21. I'm probably going to regret posting this but it takes someone very special to wear a white suit at his age. What a great musician he is.
  22. Yes....how did I forget him...?
  23. Has Jemeel Moondoc been mentioned yet? I've been playing "Revolt of the Negro Lawn Jockeys" today and he really is very good!
  24. Not many people know that.............
