  1. Great news about the forthcoming releases, Jonathan. You can be guaranteed of at least one sale of each...... How are sales going for "Flight for Four"? It really is a beautifully produced album...thank you once again for re-issuing it.
  2. Yes, Jonathan.....what's the latest news?
  3. Yes, that's the dilemma for me also. But I guess we will get everything properly remastered and with the usual excellent Mosaic booklet. I'm still tempted.......
  4. Most interesting . I love CJ Me too, but I suspect I already have much of it ie Clifford Jordan's "Glass Bead Games" and "In The World" plus Cecil Payne's "Zodiac", Charles Brackeen's "Rhythm X" and Wilbur Ware's "Super Bass". What else will be on it? Still, it's tempting.....
  5. Philip Larkin.......gone, but not forgotten. Love his poetry though, especially "An Arundel Tomb" http://www.poemhunter.com/best-poems/philip-larkin/an-arundel-tomb/ .....in fact I was in Chichester Cathedral recently looking at it (the tomb, that is).
  6. Anyone know whether Michele Rosewoman is still playing/recording? Her website hasn't been updated for nearly a year now.
  7. Anyone know where this was taken? It looks like Booker is trying to leave a hotel without paying.
  8. there are more clips http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYKgoUSSLPE Very nice,...thanks for sharing, Uli.
  9. I thought this was Hyde Park...LONDON...when I first saw the topic heading ...........DAMN
  10. ...and at that price you can't really go wrong. Thanks for the heads-up BTW, my order's in.
  11. You're right....it IS amazing! Makes the original sound like it was sung by Pinky & Perky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qGEubdH8m0s#t=58
  12. Thanks for the recommendation, Bill, I've ordered a copy. I never bought this because it seemed too like the memoirs of his flying career, "Gods of Tin" & "Burning the Days", both of which I enjoyed enormously. Perhaps that's what he's best at writing about.
  13. Was that me?...anyway, a wonderful book. I've just finished my first novel of his: which I didn't enjoy nearly as much.
  14. Yes, so did I until I bought the Stan Getz and found that the wrong version of "Flamingo" had been included. Made me wonder about their quality control processes. I also felt that their "fix" of making an mp3 download available as a replacement was wholly inadequate. They should have replaced the faulty CD like CamJazz did with the faulty CD in one of the David Murray Black Saint boxsets. In fact CamJazz replaced the whole boxset.
  15. Of what....those left standing?
  16. It seems that in September BBC4 will be airing a documentary of Nic Jones the British folk singer who was so badly injured in a road accident in 1982 that he was not expected to live. He never recorded again after his accident. Preview here: http://www.mojo4music.com/4151/nic-jones-documentary-to-screen-on-bbc/ For those not familiar with his work then have a listen to some tracks from his best known album "Penguin Eggs" (my favourite folk album of all time) for a taste of the beauty of his music and guitar playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlFKwY_YgZ4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPOmNXW2Mzc&list=PLE7EB1A670431BCA7 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj0phYz38NU&list=PLE7EB1A670431BCA7
  17. Been looking for a copy of this for ages and eventually found one at a reasonable(?) price. On it's way from Germany via Discgs.
  18. Another vote for this one...Jack DeJohnette on drums makes it for me.
  19. Ah....if only....(big sigh)
  20. I think we could all use: "TL:DR (too long, didn't read: used as a dismissive response to a lengthy online post, or to introduce a summary of a lengthy post)" a lot more.
  21. No, I already have the couple of CDs that I'm interested in.
  22. 50% off all CDs & downloads for ONE day here: http://editionrecords.bandcamp.com/ Use the code: Launch50
  23. From the Fresh Sounds website: 1. Byrd House (Donald Byrd) 2. Mr. Lucky (Henry Mancini) 3. Day Dreams (Ellintong-Strayhorn-Latouche) 4. I'm An Old Cowhand (Johnny Mercer) 5. Curro's (Donald Byrd) 6. It's a Beautiful Evening (Wayne-Rasch) 7. Out Of This World (Arlen-Mercer) Recorded in NYC, 1961 Herbie Hancock (p), Donald Byrd (tp), Pepper Adams (bs), Laymon Jackson (b), Jimmy Cobb (d), Teddy Charles (vb #6)
  24. Ah, so you DO get one alternate at least......... I must say that I'd never have noticed. I thought it was just twice round the block for that tune. If it's true then the solos on the second part of the tune are different from those in the first part. Not the most interesting tune on the CD, IMO.
