  1. Going for less than £29 at Amazon.co.uk
  2. Looking at Sqidco's website I see they recommend using a company called Bongo International for shipping to overseas customers. According to them it could reduce the cost of shipping by over 80%!...too good to be true? Has anyone ever used this company? Edited to make it clearer what I meant! BTW here's a link that explains it in more detail: http://www.squidco.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=S&Category_Code=POLICY
  3. I've almost stopped buying anything from the US because of the cost of shipping. Sad news.
  4. Thanks for that Alan. About half the price of that shown at Amazon.
  5. Still showing at a pre-order price of £21.55 at Amazon. That's a lot dearer than Jonathan's other releases were.
  6. Yes, I'd pick them... ... and what about Ladysmith Black Mambazo? Some of their music has made the hairs at the back of my neck stand up.
  7. No love for Irene Kral? This is my favourite by her........
  8. I played this last night, the first time for a long time, and whilst it does sound a bit shrill to my ears, I wouldn't have said that it sounded "atrocious". Has anyone compared it to the original vinyl and, if so, does it sound worse?
  9. The 2xCD "The Mercury Years" is a terrific compilation of the group's later work. Plenty of used copies going at Amazon for reasonable prices. Oh, and one "left-field" release that I've always loved is "Future Games". It was released as a "two-fer" with "Spirit of '84" by BGO a few years ago. Again, plenty of used copies available at Amazon.
  10. Ah, thanks for that David.....and Romualdo. Panic over!
  11. I used to be a great fan of his and played his albums a lot. However in recent years he just doesn't seem to do it for me. My lack of enthusiasm was probably not helped by the very poor performance he gave at The Sage in Gateshead a few years back. He hardly played the piano all evening and spent most of the time nodding his head to the beat and spending an enormous amount of time introducing the band after every tune.
  12. Who says bank's are useless?
  13. .....that's what's confusing me. According to the cover, the coming release is a quintet; "Avantgarde" is a quartet consisting of Manfred Schoof with Alexander von Schlippenbach and the Kuhn brothers. I don't see how it CAN be the same. Edit: I've just checked my Bruyninckx and I see that "Avantgarde" in fact contains TWO sessions. One consisting of six tracks is by The Manfred Schoof Quintet (is that what's on this new CD?) and the second, consisting of two tracks, is by The Rolf & Joachim Kuhn Quartet.
  14. Have you had sight of what tracks are on this CD? Amazon are just showing it's cover and release date.
  15. Jim, I missed the opportunity to buy into your Kickstarter project but I'd still like a copy of the CD if that's possible. Can you let me know how to order a copy from you please.
  16. Yes, thanks Uli for posting that. BTW does anyone know whether his album "Closeness" is any nearer coming out?
  17. Amen to that!
  18. Thanks for the heads-up, Bev.
  19. Although not strictly a re-issue I can heartily recommend this recent release from Ogun. It includes music from two different sessions; one from 1973 with Mike Osborne on alto, Nick Evans on trombone, Chris McGregor on piano, Harry Miller on bass and Louis Moholo on drums; and a second session live from the Chateauvallon Jazz Festival in July, 1979 with Mike, Harry and Louis plus Malcolm Griffiths on trombone, Mark Charig on trumpet and Keith Tippett on piano. I see one of our members, Roger Farbey, is credited with providing Ogun with the 1973 tracks. Since there's no information on the CD cover about when and where they were recorded, can you enlighten us, Roger?
  20. Do you know why, Allen?
  21. Waiting on the mat when I got back from a trip. So, that's tomorrow sorted.......
  22. It looks like it contains everything he ever recorded or demo-ed and looks a steal at £23. I already have the Island box so won't be bothering.
