  1. Yes, apart from track 3 the quality is decent enough for a recording of this vintage (1970). "America" label pressings were never known for their high fidelity, I'm afraid.
  2. I have a CD copy of this album so I'm not quite sure what tracks you say are distorted on your "side 2". However the quality of the recording for the track "Church Number Nine" is certainly well below that of the other tracks. It even has a drop-out of about 10 seconds at the beginning, just before the chanting/howling starts. It states in the notes that this track has a different drummer (Muhammad Ali instead of Art Taylor) so it was likely to have been recorded at a different time/place.
  3. They usually get cheaper if you wait a bit. Assuming, of course, they don't go OOP.
  4. It was ever thus........
  5. Yes, this one looks VERY tasty.
  6. His newer albums are available as lossless downloads from the Greenleaf Music website. You can get "Time Travel" here for $10....tempting! http://music.davedouglas.com/album/time-travel
  7. I just bought a slightly different version. I've only copied one LP so far but it worked pretty easy and for my 63 year old ears and needs I think the copy sounds pretty good. Thanks for the recommendation. That TWO satisfied customers, Chuck. I bought one on your recommendation quite a few years ago and have been very satisfied with the results. Thanks again.
  8. It's available direct from Futura/Marge Records in Paris http://futuramarge.free.fr/ Not the easiest site to navigate. Click "Blue Marge" and it's # "1001". I've bought directly from them via the website with no problem. They've got some great stuff, but I'm not sure how to put together an order at this site? There's no shopping cart. I really like the sound of the Mal Waldron trio date from 1970, and the Sam Rivers Crosscurrent. Those two plus the Shepp Big Band would be my initial order. The Ted Curson Pop Wine sounds great too! Probably the easiest way is to send an e-mail listing the CDs you want and get them to confirm the total price. You can then pay them via Paypal. As I said, I've bought this way and had no problems.
