  19. it's beautiful to see that so many folks here have so many sweet memories of Barry. i remember first seeing him playing solo piano in the window of a bar called "Junior's" (i think). it was in the early to mid-60's on West 47th Street in the theatre district and was actually a theatre hang-out. i'm happy to say that i've lost count of all the times i've heard Barry play, most recently a couple of times this year in NY. as has been mentioned, he's not only a gifted musician but a humanitarian as well. i know of so many generous and heart-felt things he has done for folks, especially fellow jazz musicians. blessings to Barry, always.
  20. sorry to say i'm having lots of problems. i see one post and the rest of the VERY long page is empty. how does one see all of the most recent posts? "New Content" is only calendars.
  21. Looking forward to Yoshi's in Feb! if i remember correctly, Dwayne will be on bass, Billy Hart on drums and Eddie Henderson on trumpet.
  22. i second that, heartily. when i heard Lee in SF around 1970, Harold and Mickey were in the group!! and what a fabulous one it was!
  23. hi, Gheorghe. thanks for all the very interesting information! i am sorry to say that i really don't remember how Bud sounded while he was practicing. i feel confident though to say that he wasn't playing any "flashy runs". i sadly remember his "shuffling" rather than walking to the piano. it was clear he wasn't well during this time. another topic completely but do you happen to be a fan of Joe Zawinul's at any time during his career?
  24. talk about a "private session". how i wish i had a recording of an evening i was privy to sometime around 1965-67. i was in a friend's apartment in Manhattan where Bud would visit regularly to practice. very sadly, he was living in Brooklyn at the time with no piano!! his friend would let him use his piano at any hour of the day or night. the night i was there, the doorbell rang, my friend buzzed him in downstairs, Bud took the elevator up and immediately upon entering just walked to the front of the apt. where the piano was. no conversation at all. not a word. it was amazing to witness, both the visual and the audio!!!
