It worked! I tried calling first, and spoke to a shift manager. I pointed out the lack of any specifications on the coupon itself. Seems that they are being flexible on the single item not being a cisco book. Now I'm listening to my single cd of Joe Wilder, for a mere $8.99 (Pretty Sound of and Peter Gunn), and enjoying the hell out of it.

No, but Carlin did pen this: "Fuck Soccer Moms". That always makes me chuckle.

cds you sold or traded but wished you hadn't
doubleM replied to connoisseur series500's topic in Recommendations
Hell yeah, I've done this. At least something very similar. I used to have a lot of duplicates on lp that I had on cd. I was married to a woman at the time who really wanted me to downsize everything (OK, not everything , but she convinced me to sell the lp's that I had on cd. I think back with a deep sense of mourning on the yard sale that we had, with many BN and other titles in a box for the pickin'. I don't think any were first pressings, but there sure were some Liberty's and such. I remember this one guy saying "Wow, there is some great stuff in here!" and looking at me funny . Well, I had this and that in my system, and compromised in the marraige. Now I feel more like this: . -
The "Fat Wallet" forum reported that some store managers overrode the Cisco computer book contingency based on a lack of any noted exclusion on the coupon. So if anyone else gets told "No Dice", talk to the manager and see what happens. "Fat Wallet"...A bunch of people b.s.'n online about discounts. Sounds freakin' fun!!!

. I got "gunned down" trying to buy a Joe Wilder cd this morning. They said that the coupon could only be used for 4 specific computer books. Oh, well... I'll bounce back.

What ever happened to Helen More?
doubleM replied to doubleM's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Wow. Remind me to not make jokes about or references to "hell" in this forum. I hope that having somewhat hard feelings about someone snuffing out the life of Lee Morgan (my favorite trumpet player, murdered at 33, an aside) doesn't mean that I am also going to hell. Again, it was a joke. This isn't a forum about being "saved", so I guess I shouldn't have said "hell"...and invited a bunch of fervored rhetoric about the Afterlife. I still think that you don't just kill someone if they do wrong by you in a relationship, but hey, what do I know? Hell...I was just wondering if she did time, and how much...if anyone knew. -

To reply to the question about my having written that she was going to hell, (I'd drag the quote from Alexander down if I knew how)...that wasn't a definitive or dogmatic statement. It was sort of a joke. But I think that if there is a hell, and one earns a roster spot there, shooting someone and killing them might qualify as an event. Maybe they could have tried some other interventions first. He might have exacerbated their problems by being w/ another woman at Slug's. Glad to hear that she felt like shit, though! -
I have often wondered what happpened to her. Is she actually in hell already, or prison, or what? I don't expect anyone to really know this, but stranger things have happened.

I saw these two Fresh Sound discs-- used, trio dates, and I was wondering if anyone here could lend an opinion on whether or not they are as good as they appear.??? Thanks

Up with the option of sale for $11, including U.S. shipping. Paypal OK.
-
Pleasure to assist. May it be good to your Ear-Hole!

I went to Tower.com, and the only sale I saw that might contain Jazz titles was one of those "thousands of titles for 9.99" deal...but none of the titles I was interested in, or labels for that matter were marked down. Maybe I'll just have to look into this "sale" a bit closer.

Got y'r PM. It played great on my older cd player, so chi-ching!!! These forums can make some seemingly implausible things happen, and a dash of coincidence doesn't hurt the cause, either. PM'd you back, Jim.
-
That is, if you want it. At $5.00, I'd be happy to have a duplicate for the car. It's playing fine...I'd forgotten how great this shit is!
-
I'm thinking about those titles, Conn. I have some already. How are the Kirks?
-
Well, I thought that I'd seen a copy of this at a store by my house, so I went down there, and lo and behold...it was there. Disc 1 and everything. It was $5, and a little used looking. I'm playing it right now to see if it skips, and if it doesn't, it's yours for $5 and shipping.

Hey y'all. I just got this new TOCJ which had "Introducing Johnny Griffin" (BN 1533, w/ Wynton Kelly, Curly Russell, Max Roach) on the front cover, and "Chicago Calling" on the sides and back/OBI strip. This confused me somewhat, so I bought it...only to discover that it's basically the same as "Introducing", which I already own. So, I'm looking to trade it. So if anyone is looking for this, send me an email or P.M., and we'll talk. MM

I stood behind Oliver Stone in line to see Sheila Jordan at the Telluride Jazz Festival in '92 or '93. He seemed pretty enthused for the show, but that may have had more to do with the babe that he was with.

The 50% off ones worked on box sets last time, in my local store. I went nuts, buying the Miles/Coltrane, Trane Complete Village Vanguard, Complete Monk Prestige, and some single King Crimson imports. I'm a bad, bad man. But to do that this time (fine print), it looks like I'd first have to buy something more expensive first.

Weird, Famous, or Infamous Neighbors/In-Laws
doubleM replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I used to live in a second -floor apartment whose kitchen window overlooked the backyard of a well-to-do, single, 35-40ish HOT blonde woman. Looked like Susan Anton, but with a better body. I'd always glance out there and see her doing things like washing her jeep in a thong, (which was just f*#ing awesome), sunbathing, etc.. I usually had my girlfriend with me so I had to keep the glances in check. One night I looked out there and lo and behold, she was in her hot tub w/ a dude, so I figured I'd make a snack and watch to see what happened. Minutes later, it was like late-night Showtime (uncensored), right outside my window. I can't say that sucked. She did, though! -
I know where there is a copy of one of the Rivers/Holland cd's (used), here in Portland, for about $8.50. However, I'm leaving town to go to the Bahamas B) tomorrow. If anyone really wants this, I may be able to call and have them hold it.

Miles Davis Complete Bitches Brew Sessions
doubleM replied to doubleM's topic in Offering and Looking For...
That's cheap! I wonder how many people are still willing to buy the sole "Bitches Brew" title for 20-25, when they could have the whole kettle of fish for $24? Hmmm... -
Does anyone need this? The price seems good, but I haven't researched the competition. I'll pick it up if anyone is interested... PM me.

Looking for some good humorous novels
doubleM replied to Big Al's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
"Confederacy Of Dunces" by Knowles (sp.?) is a hoot, and "Infinite Jest" --see my avitar-- by David Foster Wallace, or any of his books--are very funny. With these two authors, laughs are available.
