Well, I thought that I'd seen a copy of this at a store by my house, so I went down there, and lo and behold...it was there. Disc 1 and everything. It was $5, and a little used looking. I'm playing it right now to see if it skips, and if it doesn't, it's yours for $5 and shipping.

I just got this new TOCJ which had "Introducing Johnny Griffin" (BN 1533, w/ Wynton Kelly, Curly Russell, Max Roach) on the front cover, and "Chicago Calling" on the sides and back/OBI strip. This confused me somewhat, so I bought it...only to discover that it's basically the same as "Introducing", which I already own. So, I'm looking to trade it. I stood behind Oliver Stone in line to see Sheila Jordan at the Telluride Jazz Festival in '92 or '93. He seemed pretty enthused for the show, but that may have had more to do with the babe that he was with.

The 50% off ones worked on box sets last time, in my local store. I went nuts, buying the Miles/Coltrane, Trane Complete Village Vanguard, Complete Monk Prestige, and some single King Crimson imports. I'm a bad, bad man. But to do that this time (fine print), it looks like I'd first have to buy something more expensive first.

I used to live in a second -floor apartment whose kitchen window overlooked the backyard of a well-to-do, single, 35-40ish HOT blonde woman. Looked like Susan Anton, but with a better body. I'd always glance out there and see her doing things like washing her jeep in a thong, (which was just f*#ing awesome), sunbathing, etc.. I usually had my girlfriend with me so I had to keep the glances in check. One night I looked out there and lo and behold, she was in her hot tub w/ a dude, so I figured I'd make a snack and watch to see what happened. Minutes later, it was like late-night Showtime (uncensored), right outside my window. I can't say that sucked. She did, though!

I know where there is a copy of one of the Rivers/Holland cd's (used), here in Portland, for about $8.50. However, I'm leaving town to go to the Bahamas B) tomorrow. If anyone really wants this, I may be able to call and have them hold it.

That's cheap! I wonder how many people are still willing to buy the sole "Bitches Brew" title for 20-25, when they could have the whole kettle of fish for $24? Hmmm...

"Confederacy Of Dunces" by Knowles (sp.?) is a hoot, and "Infinite Jest" --see my avitar-- by David Foster Wallace, or any of his books--are very funny. With these two authors, laughs are available.

I'd dig a complete Joe Henderson BN set, Johnny Griffin BN (select?), I agree on the Booker Ervin and Wayne ideas, complete Prestige Kenny Dorham, complete Prestige Art Farmer. And I'd like Jenna Jameson to deliver them all to my house by mid-week.

Thanks Rooster Ties, for that post. I hope Eldar finds some good opportunities to play in San Diego, L.A., etc.. I imagine that it's just a matter of time before he will end up in NYC, where most motherfuckers of his magnitude end up living, but at 16 he's probably got some high schooling to finish up w/, etc.. I am intrigued by the lack of response to this thread (by people other than RT, and MM)-- because as far as I can tell (and I know that my opinion is around 1/239,000,000 in nationwide importance, smaller around the globe), this kid is already a GIANT. People probably haven't heard him yet, or can't imagine what the hype is all about. All I know is this dude tore it up in SLC, and I can't wait to see him play again, and again, and again.

YES-I think that their checkout stage is fucked, and encourage you by all means call the #(800.Bestbuy). I had the same type of issues with the site, but the land-line option was quick and easy.

I just bought that Hodges/Davis music on LP for $2 last weekend. Haven't spun it yet, though... Not sure where I'm goin' w/ this. I did order another Hodges ("Passion Flower") from Bestbuy, though, and a Gonsalves. Too good of a deal to pass up

Ah. This guy keeps unloading batches of records on my local indie store. A lot of Prestige 2fer's, comps, tons of Diz, Roy, Count, Benny Cater, etc.. But these airchecks will appear on occasion, and I try to snatch 'em. I got a Trane ("First Ride 1951") and a Fats Navarro ("Fats' Gang"). I know that a lot of these don't even make it to the shelves. The employees there are in a fortunate position, in many ways. Thanks, Jim.

This "collectors' issue seemed unusual, and w/ tracks that I hadn't heard of *: Darn That Dream Mood* Moon Dreams Hallucinations Chubbie's Blues* Poobah* Rambunctious.* Rambling* It sounds good--might be a boot. Has anyone heard it or does anybody know anything about these tracks? There is a trombonist, and tenor player on there, as well as a female vocalist.

I did a similar thing last week, picking up 4 cd's for $30. These sales and discounts will be the end of me, but at least I won't go down payin' retail. B)

Oh yes, there are many great interviews in there, among other things. Not a bad site, by any means. B)

I made my own "Mosaic" by cutting the pix out of these and making a collage out of 'em. Quite a bit of cool art in there.
