  1. I wonder why alcoholissimo hasn't weighed in on this yet!
  2. I think that I realized it first when listening to "The Squirrel" on BN, that Kenny D. was the man to be playing w/ Dex. But man, I love me some Sonny C.
  3. Yeah, she's been locked up, but I don't think they were real cuffs. No, I haven't seen the video. Can't afford it.
  4. This thread is seeing more action than Free Paris Hilton Mpeg site!
  5. Now I get the "I STAY BOMBED" reference.
  6. Late-I have been to coffee time, but I've never tried their chai. Nor do I write home all that much but I will give that chai a try. Thanks
  7. Living in Portland, there are many coffee addicts. In fact, the pianist Darrell Grant did an album called "Smokin' Java" after he moved here and got addicted to the bean. I too am a coffee addict. But not black coffee, gotta have a sweetener/cream/anything to dilute it... Now I am out of cream, and realizing that the headache that I'm getting has everything to do with B.S.'n online about coffee, and not having any in front of me. So, off to the corner store for creamer.
  8. Oh, and I can boast that I once got a girl who LOVED Dave Matthews Band to realize that it wasn't worth her time, and she even sold her concert tickets, and never went back to this shit sandwich. A personal victory, as I can't stand that band.
  9. I'd include some Mary Lou Williams, cause it swings like a M.F., is emotionally moving, and will show her that there have been great women in jazz, too (not a dis to the likes of Norah J., who she'd probably also enjoy, but who have really achieved mastery over the vocabulary of the music). I agree about the Dex ballad, and maybe some Lee Morgan (Ceora, Sidewinder to start(?)). Good luck. I've done this thing with about every woman I've ever dated, and it usually got 'em more interested in jazz.
  10. I think the poll is sort of , but I'd like to see him stay. My $.02. But here's an idea for another poll: Wiping y'r ass 1. Back to Front 2. Front to Back ????
  11. I sent you a PM, UndergrA. Got this one.
  12. Most of the Farmers, Blakeys, and Dorhams, Ted Curson "Plays Fire Down Below", Mal Waldron's titles are all excellent, Tommy Flanagan's as well. Go to town!
  13. Hey Conn, Have a great birthday. Hope you get a bunch of jazz stuff. MM
  14. Hmmm...I would have to guess K.D., too. But who was he subbing for (?), I couldn't tell ya'. Freddie might have had a little more "out" dates under his belt, but he wasn't exactly "Go to" in those situations. I'm stumped.
  15. That Rocks!!!!
  16. Yeah...right. And Kenny G.'s record sales make him superior to Phil Woods.
  17. There is an indy store here in Portland that has it for pretty cheap. If you want me to scope it out for you, PM me.
  18. They're all alts' I do believe, so I guess it comes down to how much you like "Dedication", and how much you care about hearing those other 5 takes. There isn't a discernable difference in sound, that I could hear. I owned 'em both and sold my copy of Dedication to someone on this board. I like the cover art on the Freddie.
  19. I'd like to see "Tony Fruscella" (S/T) come out, too. His live recordings have left me wondering what kind of studio output he had in him.
  20. I'm still waiting for my order to go through from that establishment that undergroundagent recommended. Based on what I've read below, I can afford to be somewhat patient. I think it's my Woody Shaw completist tendencies that led me to purchase this. I will report back when it comes.
  21. I think "Blessed Relief" is a lot of fun to play, certainly more-so if there is a guitar in the band. It's a great trumpet blowing vehicle.
  22. I love the tune "Mona's Mood" (Heath?) on one of his BN records, I think it's "The Thing to Do". His ability to economize his phrasing has moved me. For setting up a pre-coital mood, I've found "Solo Monk", "the Gentle Side of John Coltrane", "Chet", and "Blue Ballads" to all be . Oh, and "Jack Daniels" doesn't hurt, either. -_- . Except sometimes if you add , you might see .
  23. Sent a P.M, in your general direction, Deus. I like Ed Thigpen. Not only is he a M.F., but my old boss and pal is friends with/ and studied with him. Right now I'm doing a series of "Babes", Ursula Andress, Carrie Otis, Audrey Hepburn, Monica Belluci, etc., and some local (Portland) girls. Maybe I'll put 'em up in the "Babes" thread once I get them scanned. B)
  24. I hesitate to post that my Mosaics have always arrived in about 3-4 days. Just because I don't want to jinx it. That's too bad, though.... about the Airborne Express shenanagins. Jazz recordings, too. Rather odd!
