Great book. Let me second that. First thing I thought of when I started reading about Bowe Bergdahl. There's also a kinship, I think, between this book and "Red Badge of Courage." I have to admit that, Bergdahl or no, I haven't thought of Tim O'Brien in quite some time, but I did admire his earlier books (it looks like he really has slowed down since 2002). I actually saw him give a reading at U Michigan, most likely from The Things They Carried. Incidentally, I'm making a list of books I ought to reread one day, and I think this one and The Things They Carried both belong. In my "war novel" pantheon, it's right up there with Matterhorn.

I saw that box at the Braxton concert but didn't pull the trigger (now you have to be a member to get it). Anyway, would still like to get it. Would be interested in reactions to it. One question I had about it was whether Braxton played duos with each drummer, or with both drummers at the same time, since the album is called "Trio (New Haven) 2013," or both? I've not seen that clarified anywhere. Member of what? The 4 CD set is available for pre-sale (June 10 release) at Amazon & CD Universe. Maybe only available to members prior to commercial release? I don't see a price on it at the site, but I know Braxton was selling the sets for $40 at the Roulette show. I ordered the 4 CD set with Rainey & Fujiwara.

I met him several times while he was living in Taos. He was very nice to me, played requests, talked at length. Of course, I'm not a musician.
