  1. The only "two" posters I've ever put on ignore. You know who "they" are.
  2. My son gave me this for Xmas in a paperback 3 volume boxed edition. I'm away from home right now and took the first volume (books 1-30) with me. I'm just getting into it but quite like it so far. Very well translated it seems to me. (ie the English is not in the least stilted-- can't tell that it's a translation-- though I of course can't say how close it is to the original.) Bolanos translator is quite amazing (IMHO).
  3. Now you should restart.
  4. Great movie!
  5. I answered you over at "that other place". I would add to this thread that their earlier CD, Shamokin', is also very good.
  6. I wasn't referring to your comment but to a previous one. Santa Fe is always nice. If you tour in the west, we'd be thrilled to present you. We'd probably use a venue other than a home, since I'd have trouble finding a home with a B-3.
  7. Nice list. Chicago Overtones is good too.
  8. We present several "in home" jazz concerts a year. I can assure you the musicians are paid & enjoy the events. The implication that this is condescending to the musicians & the music is offensive.

I like this one. I don't know the other one you posted.
  10. Roberto Bolano: 2666
  11. I have all of the music on single issues & like it. If you don't have this stuff, I'd go for it.
  12. Kate Christensen: The Great Man
  13. I'm in. Really liked the 2 hour Redemption "pre-quel".
  14. Thanks Peter, for the rec. I listened to the samples at CDBaby (what a great site) and ordered one! My kinda jazz, for sure. Sounds interesting. Grant Stewart has been on some good ones lately.
  15. TOCJ-9228 Nice!
  16. Dusty Groove has it. Not inexpensive, but definitely worth having. I enjoy my copy.
  17. Cadence has always listed its proofreader as Blind Orange Washington.

    Anthony Braxton

Curious about this one. Has anyone jumped on it yet? I'd like to. DMG has it for less $$$.
  19. Lara Vapnyar: Memoirs Of A Muse
  20. MJQ: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
  21. They're both excellent IMHO. Kavalier & Clay won the Pulitzer.
  22. 9 inches of snow in Santa Fe. Very pretty. Blue skies returning already.
