Jonny King: Notes From The Underground (Joshua Redman, Steve Nelson, Peter Washington, Billy Drummond)
Enja 9067-2
Recorded 1995.
Liner notes by Bob Blumenthal.
Not a bad CD IMHO.
I wondered what had happened to him.
I don't think I'll be as erudite as some of the previous posters.
Suffice it to say, I like Hamilton.
I've been impressed by what I've heard on the Venus CDs with Eddie Higgins.
I also enjoy his collaborations with Harry Allen & Alan Barnes.
Many of his early Concords also hold up for me.
This may be "goofy", but I have a feeling that if you pay for something you may try harder to "like" it.
If it's free, it might be easier to "dispose" of.
Yes indeed....the recent pair (on Eighty-Eight's) of live Birdland recordings are excellent.
Glad to see those Eighty-Eight's mentioned.
They are great.
As John McEnroe used to say "you can't be serious".
And yes, I did watch the video as I had never heard of Paramore or Hayley Williams.
BTW - skank is a little harsh, I think she (Winehouse) looks more like a modern day Ronnette.
I get to have an opinion too.
The Joni Letters does nothing for me.
I listened once & gave it away.
And to think Herbie was so great back in the day (as they say).
I didn't see the show so know nothing about any of the performances.
We'll see re: Amy Winehouse.
I agree with the one other person in this thread who thinks she is talented.
My order finally showed up.
Ordered Jan. 21. Shipped Jan. 23. Arrived Feb. 6. So I guess the fault lies with the USPS.
Newbury told me they mailed it first class.
The label on the package said Global Mail which I've never heard of.
