  1. Is that when the book is finally being released???
  2. I like that Zootcase CD.
  3. Ward Just: Forgetfulness
  4. both
  5. Jonny King: Notes From The Underground (Joshua Redman, Steve Nelson, Peter Washington, Billy Drummond) Enja 9067-2 Recorded 1995. Liner notes by Bob Blumenthal. Not a bad CD IMHO. I wondered what had happened to him.
  6. I believe you'll enjoy it. I know I did.
  7. I don't think I'll be as erudite as some of the previous posters. Suffice it to say, I like Hamilton. I've been impressed by what I've heard on the Venus CDs with Eddie Higgins. I also enjoy his collaborations with Harry Allen & Alan Barnes. Many of his early Concords also hold up for me.
  8. The Soft Swing was available on CD from Japan in mini-CD format recently. I have it. Don't know if it's still available.
  9. This may be "goofy", but I have a feeling that if you pay for something you may try harder to "like" it. If it's free, it might be easier to "dispose" of.
  10. I don't think so. Does anyone know for sure?

    Amy Winehouse

She has me too, as you know from prior discussion.

    Sherman Irby

    Unsung, but well done.
  13. Eula
  14. Daniel Silva: The Kill Artist
  15. Thanks for this insight. Really helpful (to me).
  16. Yes indeed....the recent pair (on Eighty-Eight's) of live Birdland recordings are excellent. Glad to see those Eighty-Eight's mentioned. They are great.
  17. Great box set. Anyone else having trouble with the edges of the box coming apart???
  18. As John McEnroe used to say "you can't be serious". And yes, I did watch the video as I had never heard of Paramore or Hayley Williams. BTW - skank is a little harsh, I think she (Winehouse) looks more like a modern day Ronnette.
  19. I get to have an opinion too. The Joni Letters does nothing for me. I listened once & gave it away. And to think Herbie was so great back in the day (as they say). I didn't see the show so know nothing about any of the performances. We'll see re: Amy Winehouse. I agree with the one other person in this thread who thinks she is talented.
  20. Apropos of what you're saying, when I first played some Ornette for my wife she left the room. Now she thinks he's great (& I still do).
  21. My order finally showed up. Ordered Jan. 21. Shipped Jan. 23. Arrived Feb. 6. So I guess the fault lies with the USPS. Newbury told me they mailed it first class. The label on the package said Global Mail which I've never heard of.
  22. I don't care about Ratliff , but at least he wrote about Mary Halvorson. I have that Taylor Ho Bynum Cd too. I like it.
