  1. I like the Venus trio CDs better.
  2. The Person / Charlap duo CD is sublime.
  3. Madrid is still worth the little bit of extra time to include it. Music scene in Santa Fe is decent if you hit it at the right time.

    Tony Purrone

Used to play with The Heath Brothers. I also seem to remember him on an Ed Thigpen Trio CD.
  5. Roche makes / made Valium. I don't know if that's what the reference is about.
  6. Good advice, but it's Santa Fe, not Sante Fe. The flea market is north of town near the opera house. It's run by Tesuque pueblo. Unfortunately they've lost a lot of vendors, & it's not as good as it used to be.
  7. Ken Vandermark Territory Band 5 (3 CD set from Dusty Groove)
  8. Is that really his first name??
  9. Going to hear Kenny Davern tonight playing in a local restaurant with a trio. No cover charge.
  10. Agree!!
  11. Wonder what the "reserve" is.
  12. Sent PM (a few hours ago) on the Edwards.
  13. T.C. Boyle: Talk, Talk BTW if you haven't read Drop City, get on it right now.
  14. F. Davis reviewed it in the Village Voice & liked it. He also reviewed a Houston Person / Bill Charlap CD on the same label that I bought immediately. This one I'm still thinking about. Ethan Iverson gives me some pause (perhaps unfairly).
  15. The images are there, BUT so is an "ad" for File Lodge.
  16. What's this, what's this? Follow-up to "Soul eyes"? Please post more details. 17. Al certainly took care of Hearst's enforcer. Wu (? & his forces) have been sent for.
  18. Japanese CDs from Hiroshi: Hank Jones: Round Midnight Junior Mance: Ballads 2006 Dominick Farinacci: Adoro
  19. Great album. Do not miss out.
  20. Amy Hempel: The Complete Stories Great writing (IMHO).
  21. I have issues 1-4 of Shuffleboil. Always enjoyed the publication but hadn't heard anything from them for what seems like 2-3 years. Imagine my surprise when a new "double" issue (5 / 6) appeared in the mail yesterday. Cecil Taylor on the cover, lots of stuff on him, Dolphy, etc.. Just getting into the issue, but I think I'm going to like it. Anybody else familiar with or want to comment on Shuffleboil.
  22. FWIW, this is the first I've ever heard of Fanfare. I guess they've had no influence on me. On the other hand, I like Cadence.
  23. The 2 Eddie Gale albums are on Water.
