  1. A Flag For Sunrise is a great book. If you haven't read Damascus Gate you should (IMHO). I just started Luis Alberto Urrea: The Hummingbird's Daughter.

    Marc Johnson

It's on my short list. Will get it soon.
  3. That's my take also on this confusing (to me) set of recordings. Thanks for what I believe is a correct clarification.

    Atomic

You won't regret getting this. Worth every penny.
  5. I like that Ray Nance violin CD with Ben Webster on clarinet.
  6. Try No Problem on Venus or Live At Smoke, Vol.1 on CrissCross. Disclaimer: I think Wide Horizons is O.K..
  7. I saw them recently in Santa Fe. It was an excellent concert. I differ slightly on what was expendable. Metheny did a couple of solo "acoustic" pieces which were too ethereal for me. On the other hand I liked David Sanchez. McBride & Antonio Sanchez were fantastic. Either way go see them if they come your way.
  8. Craig Harris: Souls Within The Veil
  9. I'm getting this too. Will get it together with the "new" Frank Hewitt.
  10. Great CD. Cadence has the best US price on Venus CDS.
  11. Herb Geller: Stax Of Sax Harry Allen: Just You, Just Me (from his website)
  12. The electronic repellents don't work. You might as well hit the mice with the device. Cats are cool. Things that the mice stick to seem inhumane. Bait stations work but you might need a service to maintain them. Also probably not good if you have little kids around.
  13. She's on a nice fairly recent Archie Shepp Quartet CD called Tomorrow Will Be Another Day.
  14. Agree with all of the above.
  15. To each their own, but I've never intentionally had anything autographed for the purpose of selling the item at a profit....or with the thought that I can re-sell it later for whatever reason. Some of my autographs are personalized, some aren't; I'm happy to have met the artist and to have a special mememto of that meeting. ← I agree. I'm not sure I could ask someone NOT to personalize an autograph. What would he/she think? ← I don't get things signed intentionally for profit either. However, since none of us are going to live forever, someone may want to "sell" things at a later date. I mainly collect signed first editions of books. Everyone I know says they're worth more if not dedicated to anyone. I do often get them dated & include the city they were signed in. No author has ever been offended by this. I'm not really sure if that's also true for LPs & CDs.
  16. Big article in DownBeat too.
  17. That's why when I get things signed I just get the signature without any dedication.
  18. I don't have to wait since I don't have the bootlegs.
  19. I'll have the whole thing on my DVR. Looking forward to watching it.
  20. What did they do re: shipping charges??
  21. "new" Monk / Trane new Betty Lavette 4 Conns. - Hill, Ervin, Quebec, Cherry Woody Shaw: Rosewood Neil Young: Prairie Wind Anat Cohen
  22. That's it. No vermouth. You can keep the bottle nearby if you must. Has to be really cold. I keep the Bombay Sapphire in the freezer.
