I have all of the material on several of the Selects so didn't purchase them.
The one( of 4) that I did get that far exceeded my expectations is the Amy.
The Carmell Jones is the next best of those that I've obtained.

May not be as inexpensive as Hiroshi Tanno, but they've always been reliable in my experience.
They also take credit cards. I believe with Hiroshi it's PayPal only.
Essentially agree with all of the above.
I had sort of listened less & less.
The Bud Powell tribute he did renewed my interest & took me back to a lot of the earlier work.
I didn't buy it because I have everything except That Certain Feelin' & couldn't bring myself to spend $39 just for that.
That being said my favorite may just be the Oh, Baby! CD.
I'm not sure I get it.
Should I go to the Borders store & pay 18.98 + tax for the same CD that I can buy online (say at CD universe) for $4-5 less?
Should I pay $30-35 for a Venus CD or buy it from Cadence for $20?
Or is this a different issue?
Who's ripping off who?
Seems to me that I heard he played with Mingus at one time.
Don't think he recorded with him.
I've got a Collectables CD with Green & Wynton Kelly listed as co-leaders.
Pretty good.
Martin Williams
Nat Hentoff - still with us, not doing much music writing anymore
Robert Levin - also still with us
A.B. Spellman - admittedly there weren't many liner notes that he wrote
Since there has been so much "support" from the "I hate Miles" contingent, I'll say he was / is one of the greatest jazz musicians, influences, talent scouts ever.
Thanks &, of course, IMHO.
