  1. I got rid of Dodo Greene and some of the late 60's Three Sounds albums, and actually wish I had kept all of them.
  2. I already own two BN discographies, Vol. 1 of the Ruppli (by session) and Vol. 2 of the Malott (by album release). What I want to be able to do is sort the albums by artist and check against my collection to see what holes I may have. I had thought there would be a good chance someone somewhere had already done this.
  3. Copying in the rows from the site into an Excel file is easy enough. Some excel wizard may know how to parse those rows of data from there into columns - I don't.
  4. Looking for a listing of Blue Note albums I can sort by artist, by catalog number, possibly by recording date. Something I can stick into Excel and play with. Does anyone have any leads on this? I've done a few google searches over the years without success. Thanks.
  5. I'll take that as a compliment...
  6. And a grudging respect at that! Bring on Gene Harris and "real" music! 😋
  7. I'll have it out there first thing Friday morning (USA Eastern time).
  8. Energy Essentials was very attractive, 3 LP's fir the price of one IIRC. It was incredibly important for me, my intro to Mingus, Oliver Nelson, etc.

    Pharoah Sanders

I believe it is Hannibal Marvin Peterson, but cannot verify.
  10. A lot of coffee and a book on the new West Side Story movie (seeing it tomorrow at last, first time we've been in a theater since the third Lord of the Rings movie!).

    McCoy Tyner

+1 That may just be a difference in taste. The late 60's-early 70's BN's and the early-mid 70's Milestones were just utterly explosive and tremendous to my ears, masterpieces.

    McCoy Tyner

It's good, but always has seemed likea relative disappointment, which holds true for both so many BN albums from that relaunch period and so many post-Milestone Tyner albums. Seemed like the craft remained, but the inspiration was gone.
  13. Merry Christmas, Mark! Good subject for much further research then. Start here!
  14. Have a blessed Christmas! We have our three year old grandson living with us, so you can imagine what the morning has been like so far . Naps all around this afternoon. Last night was Christmas eve service at church followed by dinner with friends and family at our house.
  15. Which set is that?
  16. Can't imagine anyone, when they're in the mood for some Jimmy Smith, choosing to play this one out of the dozens of albums he recorded. Just fills a slot on the BN shelf,
  17. Not aware of specific plans, but profiteering being what it is, how could they not do one?
  18. Any word on dvd release? They missed christmas market.
  19. I doubt if BN owns any rights to the Town Hall material, as it was to be leased, was rejected, and some of it released on ESP-Disk a couple of years later.
  20. I like the cover picture, but not $230 worth. Have every minute of the music on it already, and even if I didn't, could certainly find it at less than $38/album. I'm totally with Chuck on this.
  21. Hendrix has quite a resume. I first noticed him on Billy Harper dates on youtube. He has also played in Charles Tolliver's big band and a host of other credits. Sounds good to me when I hear him, though I've never sought him out. Williams has been around for 25-30 years, and I see him pop up in credits from time to time, but he's never caught my ear, good or bad. Both have a lot of academic credentials (as do so many jazz musicians these days).
  22. What's the story ?!?
  23. He is not. Indeed, when I think of the music/musicians I included on this BFT for shock purposes, Billy Higgins is certainly not who I thought would set someone off!
