  1. For a long time they were #1, even off & on after a strike in '53 which gave Bud a leg up.
  2. I particularly like harmony groups with a strong bottom end - the Temptations and the Clovers meet this criteria and them some. (And both were blessed with fine material to sing and strong backing bands.) Why do so few post-doo wop white groups have any bottom end at all? Nontheless I do like the Hollies and the Everlys are hard to beat for just two guys, although they come from a long line of brother duos - the Louvins, the Stanleys, etc.
  3. Having come very close to being in your shoes just recently, my heart goes out to you. I know I'm not you, but I think what I would do is take up some interest I hadn't pursued recently. and let yourself greive when you need to. I'm sure there are more people you could reach out to than you even realize. Take care, Dana
  4. I got through two short preview clips, and I like tributes, but this is weaker than the Edmunds & Lowe EP and I didn't keep that. The Everlys rule, how anyone could fail to hear that is beyond me...The Everlys, the Louvins, the Stanleys, the Blue Sky Boys, a fine legacy.
  5. At least one in Portland does: Sonic Recollections, IIRC.
  6. Riders fan support is deep - Saskatchewan: easy to draw, hard to spell, impossible to understand unless you've lived there, and even then...
  7. "Fan of Monty Python"? I wish they only had one fan! Actually the're often funny, rarely more than just, but the fans who dead parrot it back are obnoxious!
  8. What's really unusual is that it's not them doing a random selection of Everly Bros tunes, it's them doing their Songs Our Daddy Taught us album in it's entirety...
  9. I think I prefer the 2nd one!
  10. Will have to get this, even though I prefer Magic with horns...
  11. Did I post here about her little pissing match with the whole darn city of Saskatoon this summer?
  12. That's a shame (Carlos disappearing), he had it going on...
  13. I think 'rarely' varies a lot from person to person...but it's definitely true if my wife who's probably at about the equivalent of a 6 pack per year. I'm more like a 6 pack per week or every other week. and I'd like to know what the choices inbetween were, that could skew the results...
  14. Saw the cardiologist today, looks good for a full recovery. Thanks for all your good wishes.
  15. I don't think MC gets the last word on this, he doesn't own BN or even work for them, he's an independent contractor with his own label to run (which whoever owns BN now may own a piece of), it won't be on Mosaic...but it might surface elsewhere someday.
  16. Thanks for the info and here's wishing Arthur the best, or at least the best possible.
  17. OK, the prosecution rests...
  18. Thank you all, she came home this afternoon and is doing much better. Had a startling moment when we looked at the clothes she had worn to the hospital and realized that they were so completely torn up that they must have cut her out of them while she was in restraints! She remembers nothing at all about what happened from when she left home that day til much later.
  19. Sam Rivers played a nice bass clarinet, before someone stole it - I think he never played one again after that.
  20. Depends on what the're talking 'bout at the moment, and how I feel - sometimes I can't really hear my regulars at all...
  21. JSngry: Thanks, I'm starting to feel like that song "Everything Happens to Me" Hope you and your Brenda are well.
  22. My wife, who is only 47, had a major heart attack at work Monday morning. When I got to the hospital she was nonresponsive but eventually came around and they put a stent in that afternoon. She's doing much better now, but still...
  23. won't it let me post about my wife's heart attack, I've tried 3 or 4 times?
  24. As I think you've figured out, I just love Saskatchewan...sorry to have jumped the gun!
