  1. OK, the prosecution rests...
  2. Thank you all, she came home this afternoon and is doing much better. Had a startling moment when we looked at the clothes she had worn to the hospital and realized that they were so completely torn up that they must have cut her out of them while she was in restraints! She remembers nothing at all about what happened from when she left home that day til much later.
  3. Sam Rivers played a nice bass clarinet, before someone stole it - I think he never played one again after that.
  4. Depends on what the're talking 'bout at the moment, and how I feel - sometimes I can't really hear my regulars at all...
  5. JSngry: Thanks, I'm starting to feel like that song "Everything Happens to Me" Hope you and your Brenda are well.
  6. My wife, who is only 47, had a major heart attack at work Monday morning. When I got to the hospital she was nonresponsive but eventually came around and they put a stent in that afternoon. She's doing much better now, but still...
  7. won't it let me post about my wife's heart attack, I've tried 3 or 4 times?
  8. As I think you've figured out, I just love Saskatchewan...sorry to have jumped the gun!
  9. How 'bout all the MD singles? On full length CDs though, no 5 minutes CDs please!
  10. "It was very cold in Regina." It's November, this should go without saying... Are you doing a pool/contest/whatever this year? If so I take the 'Riders by 2.
  11. Preach Brother by Don Wilkerson, just possibly the greasiest record ever made with piano (Sonny Clark) instead of B3
  12. We've had this conversation before, but I reinterate - any Great American Songbook that doesn't include Willie N and Smokey R and Woody G and Chuck B and....is worse than useless to me.
  13. We have a few Aebersold and a few Hal leonard already.
  14. Loved the Velvets, back when they were still together, less a fan of the solo work, but still an interesting dude, to say the least.
  15. 'to reify' is to treat an idea like it's something you'd meet walking down the street - in connection with jazz recordings, it's treating officially released labums as if that's the whole story, when in fact the're only snapshots, not the whole life - I think Herbie H said something to that effect. fn-Social Construction of Reality, something I read in college a long time ago...
  16. I thought they did a better job with Ellingtonia than WSQ, good stuff
  17. And yet, in S'toon people think he's a saint...my brother claims if he flys thru and doesn't get off the plane the daily still reports it!
  18. Ted, I'm still here and my daughter is still an unalloyed joy. Everything else (which is actually ok if not totally great), is secondary. Thanks for asking.
  19. Not directed at me, I trust... OMG, no! Didn't think so, but thanks for the confirmation (gratuitous Bird reference, What would Crouch make of that?)
  20. Reminds me of Merle Travis' "So Round, So Firm, So Fully Packed", kinda.
  21. Maybe he should take his own advice re analogies - just because you can doesn't mean you should...
  22. I'd be all for us buying cheap instruments and lending them, but I don't think that's going to happen.
  23. Not directed at me, I trust...
  24. This kind of "old paper" should be pretty collectible among hardcore fans of the classic Mustangs now. Reminds me, I need to get the paper for my Studebaker from the museum - it's $40 and makes a nice display for shows even if you haven't restored to total originality. I'm particularly interested in seeing if mine came with front discs or if that was a retrofit. OMG! Redd said all kinds of stuff that nice young lady didn't need to be hearing!
  25. Been on a bit of an RSJ binge, BBQ Dog & Power Tools are every bit as fine as I remembered...just got No Wave and am still warming up to it.
