  2. That's OK, but the one that did it for me was "I Can't Win" by Cooder with Evans & King. Both 'covers' naturally.
  3. Yeah, but that film will never be made and if it was next to no one would go see it.
  4. Has anyone seen this? http://www.sphinxproductions.com/films/i-called-him-morgan
  5. I know how you feel, my pick degenerated into a bitch fest about varitone saxes...but I'll do my best to contribute to the revival.
  6. Presumably, it's a blues in F...maybe I don't understand the Q. ." A three-LP set, which will include all the previously-unissued material, is scheduled for release on April 15, 2017 (Record Store Day)." This should be good for those with an aversion to have the same material twice.
  7. Hancock/Corea/Beck/Page that might be interesting, or a total disaster...

To be taken with a grain of salt, no doubt, but an enjoyable read. Especially the first part about him growing up dirt poor near Muscle Shoals.

  10. Dude, there are a bunch of experiences you've related where I can 'wish I'd been there' but that ain't one of them. And I deal with crazy every damn day. I'd have been tempted to just hit him, and quick. Life's far too short to humour that kinda delusional uncomprehending shit. but thanks for sharing...
  11. vaguely remember it roughly the same way - good on the dude and his complicated relationships with Ellington and others. Not so good on music qua music.
  12. Made me imagine the tizzie Joni would no doubt go into if someone used that song for a commercial...
  13. Thanks, wasn't away of this RHS homage.
  14. OMG, they need a new barber in that town!
  15. Thanks for posting, that was fun, but I have to ask - How did you do your initial selection? It's very Blue Note centric, and this is coming from a big fan of the label.
  16. bought at Music Millenium's half off vinyl sale yesterday, 17.99 (no tax 'cause it's Oregon).
  17. Yeah, that'd cost you big time!
  18. "Can somebody design a Long Hair And Beard Hawk emoji?" I'm sure Wm. Stout could do it well...
  19. I have mixed feelings about the original, but if I was there I might go but I probably wouldn't buy a recording...for whatever that's worth.
  20. This is v. interesting for a # of reasons - 1st, I are old so there's that, 2) I was working in a record store when those damn Duets came out - suffice to say peoples ignored our warnings and then complained, 3) Duets Solo - great oxymoranical title, 4) good to know the as it happened version is that much better, 5) general record company stupidity, wanna bet there's an official Duets Solo someday and they screw that up too?, and last but not least 6) best SNL skit ever - "Your money's on the table"!
  21. http://liveforlivemusic.com/news/warren-haynes-announces-supergroup-tribute-for-the-last-waltzs-40th-anniversary/ I don't expect it'll be brilliant or anything, but it's mere existence doesn't bug me..hope they knock themselves out and everyone there has a great time.
  22. My memory is not quite so negative, but I do remember it being not quite what I'd hoped somehow...
  23. Not unless you think Wilner is the 'artist'.
