  1. I'm reading all this, curled in a fetal position, hoping everyone finds work soon!
  2. Those are it!!!
  3. Amazing music.
  4. Bump! There were 2 4 cds sets that the Andorrans put together -- probably taken from the Chronological Classics or other sources, but they are all in one place. I think they were divided into Complete Small Group European Sessions and American Sessions from 1946 to 51. Worth the search.
  5. Don't have a problem with my copy with regards to crackles. I wonder if they'll reissue the other Masekela Chisa lp? I forget the title.
  6. It has been in zombie mode for about 6 - 7 years......
  7. Hi, I'm interested in these: Jason Adasiewicz - Roll Down - (482 Music) great vibes-led Chicago 5tet w/ Josh Berman, Aram Shelton, Frank Rosaly, etc. One of my favorites of 2008. $8 sealed/new Lowell Davidson - Trio - (ESP Disk) fantastic pno trio feat. Milford Graves, Gary Peacock. Sealed, but with a punch hole in digipak. $8 Giuseppi Logan - Quartet - (ESP Disk) classic heavy stuff, w/ Graves, Gomez, Pullen. New digipak version, $7 Paal Nilssen-Love - Townorchestrahouse - (Clean Feed) heavy 4tet w/ E. Parker, I. Haker Flaten, S. Sandell $8 Paal Nilssen-Love Townhouse Orchestra - Belle Ville - Clean Feed) same lineup, two discs unplayed, promo stamp on cover. $14 Herb Robertson - Elaboration - (Clean Feed) heavy, impressive set w/ Dresser, Rainey, Berne, Courvoisier $7 Herb Robertson - Real Aberration - (Clean Feed) excellent 2CD set, same lineup as above. $10
  8. I had a dream where Mosaic was going for the big bucks -- "Complete Kenny G" and "Complete Columbia Barbara Streisand." Yikes!
  9. Don't overlook the Anthony Ortegas. Great music on those discs.
  10. How about Weather Report's Sweetnighter? 125th Street Congress is 12+ minutes of hard slamming funk jazz.
  11. PM sent re Bill Cosby's Badfoot Brown disc.
  12. Hell just froze over. Oh wait, that's in Pittsburgh with all the snow....
  13. :tup :tup :tup
  14. It's not a musical. Its a bout a bunch of old professors locked in their ivory tower, studying popular music. A nightclub singer gun moll hides out with them under the pretense of teaching them what music is out there in the world. Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Lionel Hampton, Mel Powell, Charlie Barnet all appear in it. It's a hard one to tackle, Allen. Except for musicals, it's hard to think of any movie that would use music, much less blues, as background or mood emphasis in the films. It was the Depression, and no one wanted to be reminded of how bad things were. Perhaps in Warner Brothers "realist" films, or gangster movies, or their cartoons. Or early film noir?
  15. Chuck might want to think about downloads as well. The guy who owns Nimbus West offers his catalog as cds and downloads.
  16. Same here, never have had a failure. Ditto.
  17. What about that Danny Kaye film A Song is Born (1948)?
  18. On now, for TWO WEEKS! WKCR

  20. ok, now some Pablo stuff!
  21. Of course! I don't mind this talk. Have they played anything from the CTI, Columbia, Pablo years? It seems all 60's stuff.
  22. He's still going strong. The energizer bunny of the jazz commentary world......... wow!
  23. WKCR just rules! Thanks for bringing this up.
  24. sound of crickets chirping.......
