  1. Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed listening to this, and his James Brown memoir. Mr.McBride is quite a storyteller, and has a very good memory.
  2. Descanse en paz. Could've made it to 100. Interesting that the obituary writer touched on the myth that the French liberated France from the Germans.
  3. That is either a M1877 or M1878 Colt double action revolver, also known as Colt Frontier.
  4. Regarding albums being sold at gigs - look at the bottom of the image. In this case - not sold, but raffled. Wasn't an easy walk home for the winner.
  5. I do seem to remember a page to two prior you hailing you local supermarket chain for stocking up on toilet paper and whatever else they were supposed to stock up on, like many other supermarket chains have in this scenario, and continue to do so. However, physical goods and commodities have an inconvenient tendency of running out, regardless of the business acumen of whoever is running your favorite supermarket's procurement department. It's happened before with gasoline; you're older than me, you've experienced that. In the case of my post above, if things keep the same as they have been in the past 2 weeks, you are bound to see some of the items that I've described above, maybe not all of them, but certainly some. It's just inevitable, I'm afraid. When Wittgenstein's poker is thrown down on the floor, who will remember at what exact instant of our conversation it occurred? Only the fact of it making noise will remain.
  6. No need to look like an Elephant Man. You would've done better with your jockeys. Takes seconds.
  7. You've got some type-written text bleeding through from the other side, Chuck. I hope it's nothing important.
  8. Don't forget the millions of people who are here illegally, or undocumented, whatever your semantic preference. They are not going to be getting a government check, and most of them are employed in the service and food sectors, which are hit the hardest. We are going to either see a massive effusion across the southern border, and/or a spike in theft of food stuffs, at first, and then violence. ...Provided this "social separation" or "stay at home" doctrine goes into the summer months. Soup kitchens in the areas where they live may need to be part of the mitigation strategy. And the sooner it's planned for, the better.
  9. Sorry for going off on a tangent, am I the only one to have an issue with the PREOWNED tag on anything? There's no such thing as"preowned", there's used.
  10. How long are the Americans willing to play along with the distancing? One month, two...6? This could turn into a bit of a sticky wicket. The author describes it well. https://spectator.us/longer-lockdown-continues-imperiled/
  11. Good question, Bertrand!
  12. That’s very bad, as I’m not a “ripper” either, and would most probably stop buying new releases, period, if they don’t come out on cds. I have never bought an album that was offered only as a download. More and more musicians are not selling cds at the gigs now, and I don’t mean younger generation, but the well-established and older ones also, even though their target audience is also older listeners. The last concert I was at, literally just days before the virus stopped everything, Brian Lynch joked about offering his cds for sale after the gig, referring to them as old-timey things that some may not know of. As to your question,...I have no idea. Amazon has been a primary source for me, but I have bought cds from cdbaby also.
  13. I have the cd. Never have seen the LP. Is this a reproduction of the original cover?
  14. I'dl show this to anyone who says jazz is as vibrant, creative and alive as it was 55 years ago... I'm assuming you were there, Chuck?
  15. Bing Crosby- I Kiss Your Hand, Madame
  16. Telarc is well-known for their pioneering audiophile digital classical recordings, but I'm not sure they are active as a label any more. About a decade ago they were bought by Concord, and the corporates pretty much gutted their operation. Their Grammy-winning engineering and mastering team had been either let go, or left, and has since reopened for business as an independent. As to your inquiry, I have a couple of Jacques Loussier discs, a Kevin Mahogany, Oscar Peterson / RAy Brown / Milt Jackson - The Very Tall Band. Oh, and the the Harry Sweets Edison Live at the Iridium disc features a very-very good Junior Mance solo rendition of Emily. Their live recordings, in general, were some of the best.
  17. Explain, please. Meanwhile... Otis Redding - I'm Sick Y'all
  18. The moderation is just fine here, no need for volunteers.
  19. Thank you. I stand corrected. The detergent not just binds the dirt on your skin, but dismantles the structure of the virus. Apologies to Brad.
  20. Brad, washing your hands with soap does not kill the virus, it facilitates removal of it from your skin, and sending it down the drain.
  21. Wallace Roney - In a Dark Room, from Blue Dawn- Blue Nights
  22. This - Is thas him?
  23. All I know is that in situations like this and other calamities, it's the small business owners, myself including, who ALWAYS get shafted. Corporations receive money and buy their own stock back at a serious discount, and there is no law that would prohibit that. Soft banks get bailed out and carry on as before. But the local diner, transmission shop, landscape company, yoga studio, what you call "an independent contractor", they get...low interest loans. I hope I'm wrong this time around.
  24. I just looked him up. You're right. I didn't know who he was. Did he have a musical number in The Animal House?
