  1. I can't find the link on my screen, Lon. Where is it? MG
  2. Da Barstids came up with these, this morning which is these two Time and again, I’ve kicked myself for not buying “Madame Foo Foo” in 1972. MG
  3. I'm STILL waking up in the morning with "16 tons" in my head. Is there a cure? I mean, apart from playing something else - that generally does the trick MG
  4. Ceylon tea in my daughter's Silver Jubilee mug that she got from school in 1977 MG
  5. Mr Teasy-weasy Raymonde Ray Charles
  6. Just got home and checked. All nine tracks with LD from the complete box are on the Memorial album RVG. Thanks very much. Better get it, I suppose. MG
  7. That's half of the Clifford Brown Memorial album, right? Is it? Does that album contain all the Donaldson/Brown material? And, finally, is it available? I think that's the last hole in my Lou Donaldson collection, apart from two tracks on a Cotillion Christmas LP. MG
  8. Mine's a hot chocolate! But don't get up - I'll go downstairs and make it myself. MG
  9. This is bad news, Tom, but you've got some top whack advice in this thread. I did all my dole queueing before I was 26, but there was a lot of it. It's very easy to get depressed, especially if you get such a continuous supply of "no" that you feel you're not getting anywhere. Eric's advice about treating networking as another job is the perfect antidote to this. Keep going, keep trying. MG
  10. Wotcher Paps! I also want to say that, now Jim has done whatever he has done this evening to get me back onto e-mail notifications of new posts, I feel that I'm properly back! Thank you so much Jim. So where's the link through to CD Universe and Amazon now? There's a Lionel Hampton I want to buy at Amazon.fr. MG
  11. But St Brenda would be impossible. She'd have to change her name to Tracey. MG
  12. I'd add in Jimmy Smith at Club Baby Grand vols 1 & 2 Jimmy McGriff - Black pearl Jimmy McGriff - Something to listen to Lou Donaldson/Clifford Brown - whatever they want to call it Bobby Hutcherson Live at Montreux MG
  13. I've got this on a cheapo K7 that I hardly ever play. Don't remember it as being special. I'll dig it out. MG
  14. "Who's Ted Nugent?" I ask myself, reading this. "Never mind," I answer. MG
  15. Never heard of that site before, Porcy. Thanks for the link. They MUST bring this stuff out as a Conn or something soon. I've a cheapo CD of one and a half of the two LPs. MG
  16. THE WHOLE ALBUM!!!!!!! Hope you ain't planning on just downloading a track or two. MG
  17. Yes indeed - thanks are well in order. MG
  18. These just turned up, from Bert, via e-bay So, I went onto e-bay to get an image of the Billy Larkin and bought two more Oh dear! MG
  19. Yes, "Dixie twist" is one of the most genuinely awful albums you'll ever find by a great player. "Old gold" is pretty good - Jack McDuff's on it. But it's actually not as good as I would have liked it to have been. Get it if it's real cheap. MG
  20. Thank you folks. Bedtime soon. Trying in the morning. MG
  21. OK - after waiting about 25 minutes, the thing starts up. All I get is a long thin thing ( ) ) which doesn't tell me anything about what's being played. Fortunately, I've got a couple of these tracks so maybe - ah yes, Sonny Cox has just started. Well, so the real question is, is this it? (Did I shave my legs for this?) Or is there a more souped up version that will tell me what's going on and so on? And maybe work a bit quicker? And maybe allow me to save some of the stuff to my hard drive? More than one question; sorry to be a bother, but I don't know what I'm doing here... But track 4 is a BITCH! MG
