I've watched Scandal with interest since the pilot and think it's among the best of the newbies. Like your Palmer Eldridge quip about the POI villain, can't quite see the connection but what do I know. Anyhow she's the best female baddy since Nina Myers ! Watched the pilot of BBC Hunted, which was really entertaining, fast paced and well done. I remember Melissa George from In Treatment, she was a standout as Laura and carries the new show well. The Amazing Spider-Man - Marc Webb (2012) The Missus and I both agreed that Andrew Garfield is more sympathetic in the role than Tobey Maguire. A pity the director wasn't up to Sam Raimi. The earlier parts were very good but things went downhill after the ubiquitous genetic mutation monster appeared. Wish they'd had the conviction to leave out all that monster stuff and make it into a character study with real human non monster villains but I guess the teen market expects that kind of story. Sally Field and Martin Sheen added a nice touch.

I don't have any definitive answers but from what I know you could use the remaining dvd-r to burn about three cds per disc providing you first change the cd format to WAV. You won't be able to play them on your cd player but will have to use a dvd player. When making a backup dvd-r I doubt the speed , slow or fast makes any difference. The default burning speed should be fine.

The first episodes of two new mini series from ITV. Mrs Biggs Excellent start,the leads are totally believable, the settings authentic looking and the story most interesting. The Bletchley Circle Four ex code breakers team up for a spot of crime solving. This was very good too. ITV are on a roll.

'Socialized medicine' in Japan too. I go to a large hospital every month and their appointment system works very well, I never have to wait very long to see a specialist doctor. If I had a minor complaint I'd go to the local clinic and would probably have to wait 10-15 minutes. Coincidentally, I had to make an emergency evening trip to the hospital on Wednesday. My bronchitis with complications suddenly flared up and I was coughing up copious amounts of blood. I waited ten minutes before seeing a respiratory specialist, X ray,CT scan and subsequent treatment were immediate. All was covered by National Health Insurance although I did have to pay a total of about $80, mainly for the CT scan. The Japanese medical system puts UK's to shame.

Nearing the end of The Shield Season 4 but interrupted it to watch the first two episodes of Parade's End. I enjoyed it very much, the cast is amazing , the digital photography beautiful.

Rewatching The Shield season four Michael Chiklis' as Vic Mackey is brilliant, I can't think of a better portrayal of a bent cop.
