  1. Horizon - How Big Is The Universe ? Took a break from The Shield marathon to have my mind boggled by Horizon which is this time centered on a grand project to map the known universe. Truly awe inspiring stuff. An occasionally healthy dose of cosmology keeps life in some kind of perspective.
  2. The same as yesterday, very hot indeed. Umbrellas mandatory
  3. Hothothothot ! H36 L27
  4. The Shield Season 3 Addictive.
  5. The Shield Season 2
  6. I've started rewatching TheShield. Now on S01E02. Despite it's faults it's still one of the best ever cop shows imo.
  7. Whatever were they thinking entrusting this to an amateur. Unbelievable.
  8. Well, I'll bow to your opinion then, as I do come from a comic background, and thought the movie was an awesome capturing of the early Avengers feel. I was afraid that those who weren't fanboys (or, in my case, former fanboys) wouldn't care for it. I thought the movie was a bit tedious in spots, but just in spots. Strange thing is, I left the theater thankful that we don't have such people in real life more so than when I left after The Watchmen. Watched it last night. Didn't like it much but my opinion doesn't really count as I'm not a fan of superhero films. That said I loved the Batman Trilogy and Watchmen. The Avengers was just too unfocused, messy and overblown. It seemed like they had thrown in everything but the kitchen sink in a more is better display of pyrotechnics.
  9. I was shocked to hear of director Tony Scott's suicide. You just never know about life and people. My link
  10. Tissues in pockets is a bummer, millions of bits of soggy confetti to pick off. When Joe Cocker was still based in Sheffield, the story I heard from his mate goes that a royalty cheque, it could have been for ' Marjorine', went through his mother's washing machine, it was in his jean's pocket. Seems the manager was understanding and issued a replacement.
  11. Rain and ominous rumbling of thunder. Still it's far better than yesterdays cauldron.
  12. For anyone interested, Boss is back. I loved the first season and am looking forward to the 2nd one very much.
  13. H37C-L27C. Sweltering.
  14. Me! The Eagle was one of the high points of my week. Loved Dan Dare, Digby, the Treens and The Mekon. They were the basis for a life long love of SF.
  15. Thank you chaps ! I got a new HDD and a pedometer
  16. Casino Royale without a doubt. A strong contender for the best Bond film ever.
  17. 33, humid, cloudy.
  18. Yes, I found that really fascinating, coming from a background that knew nothing of 'The Arts' - helped explain and create a bit of curiosity about painting that was well outside my comfort zone. 'The Fatal Shore' is one of those books I keep meaning to read. R.I.P. The Fatal Shore is a very interesting book. I read it before I realised he was an art critic ! R.I.P.
  19. The American Ladies Football team have their work cut out meeting Japan in the final. Despite their small physique and nerdy look the World Cup winners are very very tough and determined. I know which team I'll be cheering for. It's also one in the eye for the preening, full of itself men's team.
  20. Absolutely brilliant display of engineering know how. Congrats' to NASA.
