  1. No mention of Li Gong !!
  2. Letter From An Unknown Woman. Great film.
  3. Henning Mankell - Sidetracked
  4. I see. Mr Spock is a closet Tolkein freak. I've seen this before somewhere. Was it in ' Mindmeld' ? Can't remember.
  5. Something's wrong with the ' Jazz Goes to The Cold War ' playlist. It's a duplicate of the 'Spring ...' programme.
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/jazzlegends/ Listen to an hour long show with an interview of Jimmy.
  7. Great. Whatever you guys are smoking send some over to me in Tokyo.
  8. Hi Vic Apologies for being off thread but are still playing the Potts BB ' Jazz Soul Of Porgy & Bess' ? Nice to see you posting again. Dave ( ex BNBB)
  9. Bill Perkins & Richie Kamuca ' Tenors Head On '- Pacific Jazz (CDP7 97195 2). I haven't heard ' Drop Me Off In Harlem' but the other two mentioned are great.

I've got a copy of ' Face To Face' but I'm not sure exactly where it is. When I find it I'll post details.
  11. Perhaps I was unlucky tuning in during a long rap. Today it was straight music with no chat.
  12. Brownian Motion If you like the Adam Makowicz Maybeck session which features the music of Cole Porter, you would like ' The Music Of Jerome Kern' (Concord CCD-457 )
  13. I'm sure the chaps' fund raising appeals were sincere but after 20 minutes of talk and no BH I gave up and changed channels.
  14. Lazaro As yet I haven't located any Japanese internet radio stations that I would consider recommending. If I come across anything interesting I'll post details. Alternatively if anyone has any leads they would like following up on the various Japanese language web sites I'll be happy to oblige. Dave
  15. The programme was great, the archive is great. Mary Lou's Mass is great.
  16. Thanks for the mail Lazaro. The time difference is very simple, we are twelve hours ahead of you. I've already started listening to some of the 'morning ' show, very nice. Thanks again. Dave
  17. Thanks for the link to WFIU Night Lights, it's great !! Blue Lakes broadcasting schedule is , of course, out of synchronisation with Tokyo, I've tuned in several times but it seems to be talk shows all the time. Maybe a clearer schedule to help international listeners would be a good idea.
  18. JohnJ If it makes you feel any better I've been speaking Japanese for over twenty years and although I have no problems with daily life I still get bewildered trying to follow complex news stories like the current Nippon Broadcasting Live Door business. I'd say a lot depends on your age and attitude, the early stages are sheer hard work and grit.
  19. I also have all the material on different cds. It's great stuff and recommended of course. The Annie Ross one is called ' Annie Ross Sings A Song With Mulligan' on Pacific Jazz. I'll post the cat no. and details as soon as I can find it.
  20. That's good new about Seinfeld. love 'The Bubble Boy', remember the Jeopardy game and 'The Moops' ? 'The Contest 'is another classic, in fact they all are. Watched ' Code 46' last night and was impressed. ps the line, 'not that there is anything wrong with that 'is from ' The Outing'.
  21. Agree about 'Age Of Innocence' an ignored masterpiece which strikes me as a career parallel with Kubrick's ' Barry Lyndon'. Both films are TOO good, they didn't stand a chance as they demanded the audience sit still and watch!
  22. I recommend these- Naima's Love Song - DIW Cry Me A River - Venus Maybeck Hall - Concord Music In The Key Of Clark - High Note Nightwind- An Erroll Garner Songbook - HighNote Something To Live For - HighNote
  23. The Who weren't bad ! Beatles Stones Kinks Free Traffic Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames
