Nobody has mentioned the great ' The Bass And I'. Try to get the Somethin' Else copy if possible, the mastering is better than the Blue Note one. Another good one is 'Holiday In Rio' which is not, as the title might imply, a bossa nova session, but a great grooving live session, recorded, mysteriously, in mono.

Dark Shadows Milestone Inspiration Milestone Reemergence Sharp Nine Dreams Of Gershwin Imagica Media Japan I have these titles and enjoy them all. I'd say ' Dark Shadows' is the one to try to get first but they are all excellent. The Gershwin one may be hard to find outside Japan.

If you think he isn't serious about music watch the movie ' Wild Man Blues'. Don't forget he didn't appear at the Academy Awards show to get his Oscar for 'Annie Hall' as it was his night to play with the band, which was more important to him than the award.

I'm amazed at the stuff you guys eat. I feel guilty if I eat an ice cream bar. I am however a total curry addict and have been cooking my own for a long time. The results are now excellent even though I say it myself. -
Does anyone know if the newly released ' Strangers On A Train' is of better picture quality than the older version. I have the old one, with the US version as the main film and the UK version on the flip side, and although the picture quality is adequate it can't compare with 'Casablanca' or some of the other Warner classics. The best quality remastering I've seen on a black & white Hitchcock is still ' Rebecca' ( the Japanese release ) I think the Night Shamalyan contribution is a short feature on the 2nd disc.

I loved him( poltical correctness be damned ) ' Back To School' and ' Easy Money' remain at least.

As already mentioned ' Freedom', same sessions, band etc. Why on earth hasn't this been released on cd ??

Can't speak for Europe but there is a longish history of cheap versions here in Japan. I don't know anything about the whys and wherefores of public domain copyright laws but a large number of classic BN were once released here under obscure small Japanese labels at dirt cheap prices, the sound was faithful to the originals. I still have some, JS Prayer Meetin' and Plays Fats Waller, Adderleys Somethin' Else. Every one of the Beatles albums was released at bargain basement prices too. I still have those. It you weren't fussed about having the original artwork then they were a great bargain. Sorry if my comments are not directly pertinent to the spirit of the original thread.

I've got all three and you should do the same. If you want an order of preference I'd say- JJ Hodges Stitt.

Great stuff. After a long series of failures, that have proved what a difficult feat this is, congratulations are definitely in order. I look forward to the forthcoming photographs. -
The sound quality is fine, at least I think so. The set is excellent and I recommend it to you, especially at the low price.

Cell phones ! Nearly got run down by a clown riding his motor bike with one hand whilst gabbing on his dreaded cell phone. I hate them. All the addicts clicking away all the time drive me nuts. Bring back carrier pigeons !

I'd also add a plug for ' The River'. Black, Brown & Beige is maybe my favourite. Also like The Perfume Suite, or what bits of it that exist. Red Carpet is another one seldom mentioned.

I don't think the Graham Bond Quartet , in the McLaughlin/Baker/Seaman form recorded anything. The following band, the Graham Bond Organization does have a couple of cds available, if you can find them. The line up was-Bond-hammond and alto, Jack-electric bass, Dick Heckstall Smith-tenor and Ginger Baker on drums. Jack and Ginger later left the band to form Cream with Clapton. One of the cds was called ' There's A Bond Between Us' but I can't remember the other title right now.

Get well soon Jack. I once spent an hour chatting with him in the students union bar at Sheffield University. He is a real music fan besides being a great bassist. I've seen him over the years in a variety of bands but first noticed him playing acoustic bass with the Graham Bond Quartet, with consisted of Bond on hammond and alto, Phil Seaman on drums and John McLaughlin on guitar. Quite a band.

I'd also suggest Walt Weiskopf. The one mentioned by Lawrence is ' Anytown', which also features Renne Rosnes. All the Gary Smulyans are interesting. I have over a hundred CC and can suggest many more if you are interested. Of recent ones I would definitely get the JD Allen, featuring Jeremy Pelt, that's a must have imho. I also like all the Orrin Evans titles very much especially ' Listen To The Band',but stay away from his recent one on Palmetto !

What is the Magical Mystery Tour lp ? In UK it was released as an ep, which I still have. I guess it must be reasonably valuable, not that I would ever part with it, if only for sentimental reasons.

2nd today. Any idea how to stop these pests ? FROM THE DESK OF: MR.Yi XU MING BANK OF CHINA SHENZHEN CHINA Dear Friend I am Mr. Yi Xu Ming, Bank Manager Of Bank Of China Shenzhen In China. I have urgent and very confidential business proposition for you.On Nov 6, 1998, a British Oil consultant/contractor with the Chinese Solid Minerals Corporation, (Name deliberately with held) made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at US$30,000,000.00(Thirty Million Dollars). Upon maturity, I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address but got no reply. After a month, we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his contract employers, the Chinese Solid Minerals Corporation that the depositor died from an automobile accident. On further investigation, I found out that he died without making a WILL, and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless. I therefore made further investigation and discovered that the depositor did not declare any kin or relations in all his official documents, including his Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank. This sum of US$30,000,000.00 is still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over with the Principal sum at the end of each year. No one will ever come forward to claim it. According to Laws of China, at the expiration of 5 (five) years, the money will revert to the ownership of the Chinese Government if nobody applies to claim the fund.Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand in as THE NEXT OF KIN to the depositor so that the fruits of this old man's labor will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials. This is simple, I will like you to provide immediately your full names and address so that the attorney will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits that will put you in place as the next of kin. We shall employ the services of an attorney for drafting and notarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of probate/administration in your favor for the transfer. A bank account in any part of the world that you will provide will then facilitate the transfer of this money to you as the beneficiary/next of kin. The money will be paid into your account for us to share in the ratio of 80% for me and 20% for you. There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will be done by the attorney and my position as the Bank Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. If you are interested, please reply immediately via the private email address above. Upon your response, I shall then provide you with more details and relevant documents that will help you understand the transaction. Please confirm your sustained willingness to assist in this transaction by sending your urgent reply via my email address. Thanks and regards. Mr. Yi Xu Ming.
