  1. I see somebody bought the copy from half.com -- was it anybody here?? If so, lemme know what you think of the album...
  2. Well, that's one of the reasons I haven't picked yet. People are still voting, since I see "Grass Roots" just pulled even with "Jacknife" - with 5 votes each. Maybe I could go with "Grass Roots" - cuz it does have both Lee and Woody, in a "Hill"-ish context. Keep voting - I still haven't decided 'for sure' yet...
  3. I'm still leaning towards the Corea "IS" sessions as my choice. I know, I know, more people want "Jackife", but if there's that much interest in it - then it can certainly be picked for another week. I'll make my decision by this Sunday night (April 27th), so people have a whole week to find the title, if they don't already have it, and spin it a few times. ( And actually, I'm quite pleased that there's been a bunch of interest in nearly all these titles (based on the poll results). "Lift Every Voice" is the only one getting 2 votes, and the rest of the votes are pretty much evenly spread out. )
  4. ===== http://www.jamiecullum.com/ Go to the "music" section to sample several MP3's. He sounds like a "Harry Connick Jr." wanna-be, to me...
  5. ( That reminds me of my favorite kangaroo mime, you know... Marcell Marsupial!!! ) Oh, I guess I should go next... Matt Wilson, who I understand grew up in a really little town about 10 miles from the little town (pop 35,000) where I went to college.
  6. Though not jazz, certainly, they also have the Henze "Trumpet Requiem" (as I like to call it), which is one of the most amazing 20th Century classical orchestral works I've ever heard. 8. ROTFLOL!!!!! http://www.engrish.com/
  9. Hell, I could do this for hours, but I got's some work to do. Here's the link, you can look for more HERE!!!!! This would be a great source for Avitars too, I might add. I know I plan to steal a few myself...
  10. I know, this one isn't a classic cover (it's from 1996), but damn - it sure looks like a classic BN cover to me!!
  11. Again, these might be very familiar to all of you - but I hadn't ever seen them before today.
  12. And, in particular, the version of "Poppin" shown above, is different than the Japanese one (GXF 3066) that I see on page 278 of the most recent BN Cover Art book (the small-format book, 7"-square footprint). What's the story on the two different covers for "Poppin"?? (PS: A couple of these are in the BN Cover Art book, so I guess I have seen them - but most of these are unfamiliar to me.)
  13. What's the link??? - what's the link????? :o ( )
  14. I think I have an extra Ornette "Foxhole" Conn, but I'll have to check. (Actually, I know I used to have an extra one - but don't remember if I traded it away, or gave it to a friend maybe.) I'd be interested in one of the Sonny Clark discs, but I'd have to remember which one(s) I already have, and don't have. (I'm pretty sure I don't have both of the one's you're offering in trade.)
  15. By far the best ones (IMHO) are the 2 different Tolliver dates, and the 2 different Cowell dates. The sound quality on Cowell's "Brilliant Circles" is only so-so (and that's being very polite about it), but the music is absolutely top-notch. "Brilliant Circles" has some of the best 'adventuresome'-type playing from Woody Shaw, plus a rare appearance by Tyrone Washington!! All four are 'must-have' items, IMHO.
  16. the NEW Radiohead CD. (Supposedly it's gonna be called "Hail to the Theif", or so I'm told.) ( Got a burn of it about 3 hours ago, and it's not supposed to hit the streets until June 10th. )
  17. I might add that "Boogaloo" is my all-time favorite John Patton album. It's heavy, deep, baddd!!, phatt!!! -- all rolled into one!!!! :rsly: :rsmile: B) !!!
  18. (Gary Thomas plays flute on a few tracks, on the album I mentioned up above. Still, the album is mostly tenor/alto.)
