  1. I am afraid she’s not. Look at the nose guys, it’s definitely not her.
  2. Love the Night of the Mark VII albums but I am less fond of the On Stage albums.
  3. You’re probably not surprised but I do not agree with that at all. For me it contains some of Clifford Jordan’s most intense and best playing on record. The title track is a killer. One of my favorite Waldron records. Funny how two people could experience a record so differently.
  4. this is the one I immediately thought of. I bought it blindly, excited by the personnel. Some of my favorite artists all together playing Trane repertoire. But when I gave it a spin I could not be more disappointed. This really is a very average bop date, nothing more than that. None of the musicians sound truly inspired.
  5. That is sad news. Great piano player. Love his playing with Noah Howard and Frank Wright. And of course with Lacy. Rest In Peace mr Few.
  6. You make me sad. So be it. Come Patsy! I have a bit of a feeling it has something to do with the Brexit, ambiguity around new shipping rules but perhaps I am too suspicious. I would understand though.
  7. Another email helped. Item is unfortunately not avaible that was probably my last chance for now... but if somebody knows any options, I would love to know of course! amazon Australia does not ship to the Netherlands unfortunately. And Clifford’s option is a bit too expansive as almost everything from the US is taxed by import customs. But thanks anyway guys!
  8. Honest Jon's is a trustworthy seller aren't they? Because ever since my payment they do not give any response nor a shipping confirmation....
  9. Yeah I am not going to replace or buy duplicates. I was tempted for a moment by Passing Ships as it’s one of my favorite jazz records, but it’s too expensive. But the big advantage of being a relatively young jazz lover is that their are still lots of records to buy as my collection is only just beginning to take shape Not sure if I will buy any of the planned releases of this year. Only one I initially doubted about was Katanga by Curtis Amy. But I think I will get me the Mosaic Select which will probably cost the same.
  10. Dexter Gordon’s ‘One Flight Up’ and Andrew Hill’s Passing Ships are up for February. The Hill a double LP.
  11. Yup, still looking for that Mosaic for a reasonable price...
  12. Today was my first spin and it’s very, very good indeed. I like it even better than ‘Happenings’ which is also great. Great interplay between Hutcherson and Hancock, and I was also amazed by the excellent bass playing by Albert Stinson. Did not know him very well.
  13. You as our one and only Hutchfan should buy it without hesitation have to say I bought my TP also because I did not own the music yet. They say ‘Passing Ships’ by Andrew Hill will be among the 2021 releases but I dont think I am going to get it because I already have the Conaisseur edition. And for a replacement of something I already have they really are too expensive. Plus there’s so much music out there that I want to explore.
  14. Yeah I was a bit sceptical at first but I must admit they are pretty great. But the 40 euro price here in the Netherlands is still a bit over the top. According to someone on the Hoffman board, the 2021 releases will we announced tomorrow...
  15. Listening to Hutcherson’s Oblique now. I have to admit: again the sound is superb. Incredible!
  16. @soulpope definitely agree with you. Spanish Bitch is a good record but also a bit hyped by its cult status. Free At Last is definitely a stronger effort. @clifford_thornton yeah you’re right, I checked Discogs again and he played on many records. Don’t know how came to that first conclusion now... thanks for noticing, I changed my wording. @Niko that’s a pretty good idea!
  17. So a first weekly update then, covering the years 1969 and most of 1970 which was in one of Mal's most creative and productive periods. Among the albums are few better known and a few less known albums and the first two he recorded during his first trip to Japan. Hope you enjoy reading them, and thanks again! https://snake-out.blogspot.com P.S.: I really find it hard to promote my blog. If someone knows how to do best please PM me.
  18. Thanks! We weren’t very close or something but still. It’s definitely all much closer than during the first big wave in April.
  19. My dad's nephew died from it. He had cancer and was at the point of full recovery. Than his wife caught Covid and days after it he did too. A few days alter he was on the intensive care unit. Couple of days later he died. Feels so unfair, almost beating cancer and then there's Covid and you die anyway. A colleague of my sister lost both her parents on the same night.... What a nightmare. The Dutch government is really making a mess of the whole vaccin program. They really had my backing and trust (it's easy to be cynical) but with the vaccines they really fail. Again were last with vaccinating in Europe. Starting now on the 8th of January initially with retirement house nursing personnel only... And on 18th January only 5 vaccination locations. I just couldn't believe my ears. The Netherlands is one of the richest countries with one of the best healthcare systems in the world. First it took ages to create a solid testing infrastructure. And now were fucking around with the vaccines. So yeah, I am pretty sure its going to take a long time here. Even the Belgians are faster than us (no offense to our southern neighbors)
  20. Funny to see how so many mention American names exclusively with such a European label. But I know the ECM sound isn’t much appreciated here.
  21. No it’s not a lot of work, especially not on Discogs where you only have to put in your catalogue once. If you plan to sell lots of stuff you could also choose to ship once or twice a week. Make sure you notify your customers of this. the whole fuzz on Discogs was about the new policy that sellers were obliged to have an automatic shipping policy. I still don’t understand what people are complaining about. Added mine in 10 minutes and as a buyer I am very happy with as I can now see the total price immediately.
  22. Don’t know if Kenny Garrett is among the young lions but he is one I really dig. Especially the works with Mulgrew Miller, Bobby Hutcherson etc. His last 2 albums not so much though.
  23. Almost New Year’s Day here in the Netherlands. Very different from other years. No parties, no fireworks. Best wishes to all of you and may you all stay healthy! Let’s hope 2021 will be a better year.
  24. Anouar Brahem - Le Voyage de Sahar Anouar Brahem - Le Pas Du Chat Noir Eleni Karaindrou - The Weaping Meadow Elina Duni - Matanë Malit Tomasz Stanko - Dark Eyes Tomasz Stanko - Lontano Tord Gustavsen - What Was Said Something like that I guess.
