  1. I agree with Clunky. Besides, the Japanese disc has the exact same track order and times as the Garry Giddins produced LP which was sped up. It must therefore also have the same issues. Same source as the LP, no corrections.
  2. The latest Japanese CTI Blu-spec CDs sound best of all. They are cheap and two of the five Farrell titles are included. Outback Penny Arcade Also great sounding is Idris Muhammad's Power Of Soul Not loud and compressed, no hot treble. The Muhammad sounds so nice you keep hitting the replay button.
  3. The concert from the following night in Carmel, Indiana is up on Dimeadozen. No sign of Detroit yet.
  4. Front row seat at all the big conventions. If you didn't already know, now it should be clear how much money Chick Corea donates to this church and to what use it is put. That's why I won't buy any of his albums as a leader.
  5. Saw it. If I'm not mistaken a lot of the people who left now claim the freedom to practice their religion outside of the control of the church. Mainly the dianetics/auditing. That should have been mentioned. The first part of the documentary, before the OT levels are introduced and explained, gave me some sense of why they would want to do that.
  6. So, the Dutch love their Heineken, not particularly good at all. The Belgians while known for producing a lot of the best beers in the world drink the unremarkable Jupiler in large quantities. How about the German Oettinger Pils? Is that any good? No mention of Scotland in that map. They prefer a dram? Quite the alcoholics, the Scots.
  7. Where will you get that, erwbol? Is that in that one special shop in Haarlem? I was there not too long ago, to enquire what whiskey to get as a present. Do you mean the store in the Koningstraat (between V&D and the Grote Markt)? They have an impressive range of Malts, but I couldn't afford to shop there if I wanted to. I did get two Glencairn glasses there once, though I seldom buy Whisky. At most once a year. Yes, that one. I didn't get a bottle yet, I just enquired what to get my Scottish friend. A friend of mine did buy something there, not whiskey. They seemed expensive indeed. I actually have a Scotch and a Bourbon at the moment. They are for my best friend, he's a lover of whiskeys. (I do know Bourbon, isn't whiskey) So I got those for him in case he wants something nice when he visits me. I think I buy a bottle a year too, not more. I just drink wine myself. So your post was a joke? I seem to take everything literally and miss out on the jokes often. Even Scottish whisky is cheapest when bought on the internet these days, despite the cost of shipping, though I haven't done so myself (yet).

  9. I don't own any of these Verve and Columbia records, but where would you say Body and Soul and Songs for Distingué Lovers rank compared to the two you mentioned. One big draw for me would be the presence of Ben Webster.
  10. I'm considering pre-ordering the limited numbered Glenfiddich Jazz Moose edition.
  11. Congratulations! I bought the Cecil Taylor last year (mint, #0039) and I couldn't be happier. It was shipped in one of the same boxes Mosaic uses for big sets.
  12. This one is hands down the most useful, especially if you use google's search function to drag up old threads. site:organissimo.org search term
  13. King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hochschild. Eyeopening book about our southern neighbour's king's horrific colonial ambitions in Africa's Congo region.
  14. Both Shorters blow away any previous CD versions.
  15. Appropriately titled, then.
