  1. Lovely album! I just have the Japanese pressing on Philips but it's in stereo and not a single crack or pop to be heard so I won't complain too much
  2. Masahiko Sato "palladium" (express, Japan red wax) Masahiko Sato "deformation" (express, Japan red wax) One of my favorite Japanese musicians along with Masahiko Togashi who appears on both of the above! These albums along with "transformation" and "penetration" are outstanding IMHO
  3. I have an original stereo issue of this lp; it's a nice session but sound wise could have been better...
  4. Bobby Hutcherson "Components" (Blue Note, NY stereo) Bobby Hutcherson "Dialogue" (Blue Note, Liberty stereo)
  5. Shunzo Ohno "falter out" (victor, Japan) Jiro Inagaki "head rock" (Columbia takt, japan... Reissue)
  6. Nice interview; thanks for sharing
  7. As a Seahawks fan since as long as I can remember..at least 30 years...I am going to bed feeling quite happy and pleased I figured we would win but did not expect such a one sided beat down!
  8. Must have been one of those moments when time had run out and someone screamed 'For god's sake, what shall we call it? Think of a name! Anything!' Haha
  9. I bought a crapload of RVGs simply because they were cheap and easily available...I have/had a few TOCJs too but to be honest they did not sound much better then the RVGs to be honest....and the few McMasters I had didn't really knock me out either. The only digital Blue Notes that have actually impressed me in the same way as clean vinyl have been the XRCDs and this new SHM series.
  10. Freddie Redd "The Connection" (Blue Note, mono 47 w 63rd labels)
  11. Takehisa Kosugi "catch wave" (Sony, Japan) Steve Lacy, Yuji Takahashi, Takehisa Kosugi "distant voices" (Columbia, Japan)
  12. I like that album; a good one.
  13. That's pretty much my approach plus I'd add sessions such as Odyssey of Iska which I've never heard in any format ( still pondering that one) I'd agree with that as well although for myself I would add getting the titles with the unreleased takes such as the Dolphy and Adderley. The Adderley title is about the only early Blue Note I have a mint original LP of but I wanted the CD for the alternate take.
  14. I just got the new SHM cd edition of Steve Lacy's "reflections" and while it sounds good it does not blow me away like the recent "outward bound" SHM or some of these Blue Note SHM discs.
  15. No..I had a Spanish cd on disconforme...I think another thread commented that this combo pack cd didn't sound great either?
  16. Yup that's a very nice LP. Years ago I bought a dubious vinyl "reissue" of this that sounded horrible...not long after bought a CD which sounded equally bad..until I finally found a mint original issue about 7 years ago and the sound on the original is amazing. No clipping in the saxophone and deep strong bass. A great session! I play this one more then some of his other post-prestige/new jazz 60s lps like "forest and the zoo" or "Sortie".
  17. This was one of the first "free jazz" Lps I bought as a teenager after listening to Ornette and Coltrane beforehand. Still a magical record and one of my faves...I had the Nessa issue first but some years later lucked out on a mint Pathe Marconi copy.
  18. My wish list would have to include any titles from Jackie McLean, Bobby Hutcherson, Andrew Hill, Don Cherry, and Grachan Moncur III that have not been issued on XRCD which I feel is the only other digital format which sounds as good as these issues. I have an audiophile friend who owns nearly all the 45rpm blue note reissues and I must confess those sound the best of all but this series (and the xrcds) come awfully close and I can't be bothered with changing a record every 10 mins.
  19. Yeah definitely pick up that Dolphy CD...best sound I've heard after having a few different issues for the last 20-25 years. Plus it has a few unissued takes.
  20. I have a half-speed masters edition of the first Boston album that I occasionally crank on the hi-fi...albeit maybe once every few years
  21. I found the recent SHM dsd reissue of Eric Dolphy's "outward bound" to be outstanding sound-wise as well. I'll have to buy "the all seeing eye"...have the RVG edition but it would be nice to hear this edition.
  22. I hear that the complete "Miles plays the banjo" sessions might be next...
  23. Sad to hear; an eccentric and unique artist!
  24. Grachan Moncur III "some other stuff" (blue note, NY stereo) Dick Griffin "the eighth wonder" (strata east, USA)
  25. Weather Report "Sweetnighter" (columbia)
