  1. Randy said the guy was playing Brazilian and classical guitar. I only met him briefly and didn't get to chat, but yeah, he was really digging it! There were two other guitarists seated at a table in front, too. Nice to get some love from my guitar brothers. B)
  2. So you have two available, Bill? Jim, that would be great if you want to go. I'd prefer not to make that drive alone.
  3. Nice to see you too, Paul, as usual. Enjoyed meeting Greg as well, and I look forward to the next hang. B)
  4. 2/22, as well as 3/7 & 3/28. See you there.

    Nice thread, fellas.
  6. Sad news, Tom, and a great shock to you, no doubt. I don't know what else to say, other than that you and your family have my sympathy and good will. When you're ready to come back, we'll be here to help lift your spirits.
  7. I'll go! If you can grab a ticket for me, I'd sure appreciate it.
  8. This bassist that Jim's talking about was once informed by Rodney Whitaker (in front of the entire class, I might add) that, "If this were a military organization, and it was your turn on watch, we'd all be dead." I did feel kind of bad for the guy at that moment. But it didn't seem to humble him at all. He still handed out those ridiculous business cards.
  9. Love For Sale, with the Miles Davis Quintet. Again, he doesn't play any clams, but next to Miles, Cannonball, and Bill Evans, who all turn in amazingly brilliant solos, Trane sounds a bit cautious to my ears.
  10. Don't tell me; you love them? I don't want to know.
  11. Jim--Steve Lukather is the guitarist for Toto.
  12. I have but one question: What the hell is up with the bearded one in the photo????
  13. Dude--if you're not going to use this as a song title, I'll gladly give it a home!
  14. I don't share your opinion. Let's see if "Organissimo" would like to take this as an opportunity to apologize for being an organ trio. Fat chance. Greasy, funky, and proud of it!
  15. Yes, I got the email, and will reply. More later.
  16. Sometimes topics are slow to get going. People bump these things up if they have something new to contribute.
  17. Another incredible piece of King's writing is his letter to the clergymen that he wrote while sitting in an Alabama prison cell. Among other things, it says to me; this is what argumentative writing is supposed to look like!!! That speech he gave just before he was assasinated (I may not get there with you...) brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. A great mover of deeds in our time.
  18. Thanks for the link, John.
  19. Imagine seeing that on a resume!
  20. What eventually became of Sly? Is he still alive?
  21. Damn! Look at Jim, blowin' sunshine up our hineys! Hey, I'm all for the idea myself, being interested in the many different types of music that I am. I just don't tend to spend a lot of money on cds, so that's what usually keeps me out of discussions, though I do read them.
  22. Reminds me of a saying from the East: If one is ripe, even the sight a falling leaf will do it. If you're not, the whole tree can fall on you and nothing will happen at all!
  23. Where's the thread that started all this?
