  1. This also describes the voice-leading books put out by Mick Goodrick. I have worked quite a bit with those, and in fact spent a couple of hours with one page this morning, then assigned it to one of my students. The material there is interesting in that it can be explored both melodically and harmonically.
  2. Whoa - when did Trilok go grey and shave his moustache?
  3. Jim Alfredson was in the corner fiddling with his Moog Voyager in my dreams last night.
  4. I picked up the Gridmore book once, shuddered, and put it back down.
  5. Not I. Why do you ask?

I really like his playing on that Chris Potter album. That's the only thing I have with him on it, save for some Monday Michiru tracks. He's a monster, no doubt.
  7. I wonder how the brain would process input from two sets of eyes.
  8. And? He's going to be an Ann Arbor next Monday; unfortunately, my obligations are going to prevent me from attending.
  9. Yes, thank you. I appreciate the background; which I was mostly ignorant of.
  10. I heard the news from Rodney Whitaker just a while ago. His health had been poor these last few years. Wonderful tenor; glad I got to see him when I did.
  11. Was Samantha wearing her bunny ears and tail? I'm tellin' ya... No, John (the Gwand Wabbit) was wearing the bunny ears. Sam was wearing a red g-string bikini bottom over her pants. I'm tellin' YOU!
  12. I guess nobody else had any fun. Great to see those nutballs in Reptet again. They put on a really energetic show with Samantha Boshnack's excellent charts. Would have been better to have a full house, but with spring break and little local press support, that didn't happen. The crowd that was there stayed right to the end and seemed to be enjoying themselves greatly. As luck would have it, the weather was beautiful, too. I don't think any pictures were taken - I would have but haven't yet replaced my stolen camera.

  14. I haven't seen his name anywhere since a friend gave me a cassette dub about 10 years ago. Wonder what's he's been up to. Three fusionish albums that sounded kind like Holdsworth in the '80s - I like them - and nothing until a few years ago he put out a straight ahead album that was a bit of a disapointment. Ah. The fusion albums were what I had a copy of.
  15. No bread, no chart. Damn straight we call ourselves musicians.

  17. The keyboard nerdisms were in full effect at the gig last night!
  18. Ron Blake's latest, Shayari
  19. I, for one, am glad this thread happened. Clarified for myself the arguments of the main participants on this issue, which has popped up here and there since the beginning of the board (yes, I can be slow on the uptake).
  20. Nice!!!
  21. You do come up with some gems!
  22. I'm placing the blame on Jim for the keyboard nerd thread drift.
  23. 166. mf's is multiplyin'.
