  1. Well, geez Randy - not all of Allen's post was a gut-buster!
  2. Yeah, but those things only ruin his music for me. You needn't worry about it. :rsmile:
  3. The "Boogaloo Sisters" were not actually sisters but two close friends, beautiful young women (Uncle Skid has met one at least and can attest to her charms), and among the first to hit the dance floor when we started gigging out as a trio. Needless to say their arrival at the club never failed to liven up the scene. On slow nights, the inevitable question would be asked concerning their whereabouts. Of course we had a job to do and never actually sat at the bar, refusing to play until they showed, but it made for a good album cover scenario. Those days are gone now, as one of them moved on several years ago, and the other is busy with school and career, plus Founders Brewery moved out of the room where the photo was taken and into a bigger venue (better in some ways, but not as intimate). But it was a formative period for us, and those gigs played a huge role in the shaping of our sound, which of course still leans toward the funky side of jazz.
  4. Uh.. is that the CT model?

There was a story about him done on All Things Considered yesterday. I enjoyed hearing him talk about how Albert King "messed (him) up that day" at a recording session. The story about his son's survival of Katrina was pretty harrowing.
  6. A multitudinous collection of fun stuff here: http://www.gustavoassisbrasil.com/ Check out the lessons page and the links page.
  7. I understand that Jim Colando's artwork has graced album covers of Roscoe Mitchell and Gary Burton. Not sure what titles those would be.
  8. Yeah - we noticed that little oddity as well.
  9. Is Toot Toot, Pritty Kritty, TOOT TOOT! something she said as a kid?
  10. The weather's been freakin' out here in the midwest!
  11. "worse than Weather Report"

  13. Weird and wild. And expensive. :rsmile:
  14. Really? Across the board?
  15. In case you're serious do youself a favour and rent the DVD right now. You're talking to someone who watches maybe 5 movies per year, max. And it would less than that if I didn't have a girlfriend. -_- Oh, and I have to get a DVD player first (the first one broke down, and the last one was stolen). ~ Digital editing is indeed incredible.
  16. That's a bizarre photo, and I have no idea whatsoever who those people are.
  17. I don't know, but it looks pretty cool. Might be my kind of player, but who knows? I'll check him out sometime.
  18. That's far out. Extremely out.
  19. Was just thinking about getting a glass of Goats Do Roam.
  20. Really? Has your head been in the sand the last 8 years? That chart is really interested. So how can anyone look at this and claim with a straight face that Bush's administration has nothing to do with the rise in gas prices? Seriously... look at the miles driven. It has sat still for the last three years and yet... amazingly enough, the prices just keep going up. Supply and demand my ass. Jim - check this article out: http://www.energybulletin.net/45250.html It focuses on Great Britan, but the implications for the US are clear. I think supply and demand is an issue. Edit to add another link: http://www.princeton.edu/hubbert/current-events.html
  21. Harmony and understanding Sympathy and trust abounding No more falsehoods or derisions Golden living dreams of visions Mystic crystal revelation And the mind's true liberation Aquarius! Aquarius!
  22. Paul and his fine ass charts.
  23. You would say that. Just kidding - that seems to be a consensus view, one I wouldn't disagree with. Who do you like for Bach interpretation?
  24. I'm with Paul. I can understand people not being down with that style of singing, though.
  25. Wouldn't expect anything less than a fine chart from our man!
