  1. Michigan must teach some of those British maths "Life goes on" doesn't count. Everybody knows that one.
  2. I see four things listed in his post. :rsmile:
  3. Guess it's a three duck night.
  4. Crap! This thread reminded me that I needed to bring mine with me today.

  6. Laughed when I read this. I go for the No. 2 all around once every four months or so. Zip, in and out in minutes. I actually had to look around for a barber to do this! I tried three or four who considered themselves "hair stylists," and wanted to style me up a bit instead. And one who actually huffed in an exasperation that, yes, OK, he would shave my head, but he didn't want me telling anyone where I'd gotten my hair cut because it was going to look terrible! Just terrible! ... I was a little nervous as he finished up. Never been back. Every four to six months?? For me, it's a 2 on top, 1 on the sides every two to three weeks!
  7. Have to admit I checked my set (I've had it for almost 3 years) and I'm ok. I've played the set a couple of times but feared I'd been "brain dead" part of the time. I thought I was getting up to speed on some of the music more quickly than normal. Nothing like a wee bit of repetition! Thanks for the recs by the way. I just got their Bartok set in the mail today (not from yourmusic - just call my "the fed," as I thought I should inject some cash into the music industry at more old fashioned prices. Having checked out other quartets' versions from the library I have a feeling the Takacs still be a steal on my part.) If you haven't gotten it yet, you might also want to check out the Takacs' Schubert CD at yourmusic: http://www.yourmusic.com/browse/album/Taka...CO_14648_ALBUMS I haven't heard this CD yet (I have other recordings of these two quartets), but I do have it on order. Ron, why didn't we go see the Takacs Quartet when Rachel and I came to Philly? January 13, 2008: Philadelphia Chamber Music Society / 3:00 PM Haydn Op. 74 No. 2 Bartok No. 5 Beethoven Op. 59 No. 3 pcms
  8. ...and still have all our teeth. :rsmile:
  9. Getting it to play back in time would seem to be the tricky part.
  10. Nice to get a break from "People Say" Ooo they're robbin' and they're stealin' And they're breakin' in Joe's house!
  11. It's the ugliness of America these days that the only options seem to be "catch and release" or imprison. In neither scenario is "getting on a better path" likely. Although, if "these kids" (and are they in fact young folk?) are in fact just a bunch of low-life hoods who never can/never will rise above being parasites on society, then, hey. But if they still got some gleam of life left in their eyes, you'd want to think that "salvation" remains at least a possibility, that probation and some functional social intervention mechanisms would be in place to give them one more workable chance to decide what kind of a life they're going to make for themselves. But dream on about that... <Sigh> ... I hear you.
  12. I tend to think it is a double-speed tape thing. I can't imagine how they did it, but I'm not well-versed on those techniques. Floating around in my mind is the memory of having heard some weird organ group thing that featured the same kind of sound... I was riding home from a gig with Jim ... I wonder if we were listening to Larzaro's show...
  13. Right - didn't press the detective for the details of the case. Nice; well, I do have compassion for "these kids" in the sense that I know they need to get on a better path, and fast. But, in order to uphold the law, they will be charged with a felony.
  14. How interesting! You know, I really like that photo. Not just for the instruments (mandocello! and dig that harp guitar back there), but for the almost childlike look on his face.
  15. She said that it probably was. I think they got a good print last time, so that might be the clincher. Yes Eric, I will still be taking further precautions - probably insuring my guitars and getting hooked up with ADT. But no, only two items have been recovered so far.
  16. Believe it or not, the culprits have been caught! I just went down to the station to reclaim two of the stolen items. The detective didn't give me any details about how they were busted, and I didn't press. She said, "these kids." They were going to go back to the house to look for more of my stuff. Amazing!
  17. Well, hell yes! :rsmile:

    Lewis Nash..

Lewis is one of the best - there's no doubt!
  19. Anyone privy to what his illness is? I hope he recovers and continues to play. I've seen him with a couple of great bands. So steady and solid in sort of a quiet way.
  20. I take black in the morning, green after lunch, and herbal in the evening.
  21. BTW 7/4 - once again, the guitars, amps, and the rest of that stuff went untouched. Thanks everybody for the sympathy and suggestions. I'll probably have to go with some kind of security system in the near future.
  22. I did go out and follow the tracks in the snow last night. They led to the house next door to mine, where the back door was smashed and wide open. That house has been vacant for a couple of years, which really sucks because it's falling apart. It would be much better to have some responsible and trustworthy neighbors there, obviously. From there, they led to the street (I could clearly pick them out - he was running, and actually made two trips, believe it or not) on down to the apartment complex that sits just to the north of where I'm at. Once they crossed onto the grounds, the tracks became hard to follow among the dozens of other sets of footprints. So yeah - this guy could potentially be able to see my house from his bedroom window!
  23. Yeah, but he'd be way more maintainence than a dog.
